World of Orchids (A), Kissimmee

Location: It is located around 1 mi off US-192 (and near the Disney World Dr, marker 4 or 5), on which there are a lot of hotels. There is a small garden, in which you may find huge fishes. Not too many orchids in the garden though. I saw good Pha and Cymbidiums. The price is OK, but not very cheap. Blooming Nobile dendrobiums are marked as $15 (dens not in blooming is the same price). There are some miniatures someone may interest. Tree furn, wood frame box and also available. I only bought two plastic pots for 15 cents each. I will visit it again if I stay near US-192 Marker 5 and I have one or two hours to kill, otherwise will not.

Not the tropical paradise you might envision, they did suffer quite a devistating blow during a hurricane a few years back but have bounced back beautifully. We've gone for years and always brought something home. Plants are resonably priced, and employees are very well versed on orchid care. Talked to owners last year and they will be moving to a new and larger place in the next year or so. Admission is free and you can feed the large number of koi who never seem to loose their appetite.

An off the beaten path from the other "Worlds" but a must see if you love orchids, the most varieties of flowering plants in the plant world. Koi ponds and a wood deck walkway through the wetlands near Disney with orchids growing in their native habitat.
