Captain only knows one reef (Pelican reef). This is the Walt Disney world of reefs; everyone knows about this reef. It is so over fished. we were at this reef all day. Only a few fish over 12 inches were caught.
On my wifes birthday on December 7th we fished with the Miss Cape Canaveral. I was leary due to my experience with Ocean Obsession which we sailed on May 24th where we caught no fish and listened to the shipmates brag about the fish they caught "on knocker rigs" and were going to sell at the market. Despite my worries, when heading back to shore with Miss Cape Canaveral our only worry was how to cook our variety of fish. My wife's birthday was a huge success and it was her first trip out on a charter. I am glad we chose Miss Cape Canaveral and am now planning all my trips with their charter. Four of us went out for my wife's birthday and we have all agreed to make it a birthday tradition for the four of us on each of our birthday's. Not to mention the additional trips of course. Like tomorrow December 22nd, 2011. The price was great and the shipmates are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They want you to not only catch fish, but know about the fish you are catching. I would highly recommend the Miss Cape Canaveral over all the other charters running out of Port Canaveral. Best Bang for the Buck.
My 3 boys, who are 9,12 and 13 and my father n law and I had the best fishing trip ever. The captain and the mates were awesome and very very helpful. As soon as my boys caught something the mates were right there. We caught 62 fish total and have decided to drive down from Tennessee every year and make it a family tradition. I called this year as well to make an appt. and to my surprise Andrew remembered us!!!! I would recommend this company and crew to anybody. The MISS CAPE is the ONLY charter boat to be on to experience memories of a lifetime and that my friends is PRICELESS. Any questions you can call me at 865-307-5861 and my name is Dennis B.
I'm a older woman who likes to fish. I go fishing on this boat about once a month. I enjoy it. I get a 50 percent off coupon each time I go so its cheap. The captain and helpers are always nice. Yes they try to catch their own fish but it doesn't bother me. Its Never interferred with me. The womans bathroom is clean. The deckhands are respectful to the enviroment. They gently remove the fish to return to the ocean. Once I caught a hugh red snapper. Couldn't keep it but good fun. Most of the time I do bring fish home. I highly recommend this company.
Not much to say really. My wife, two friends, and I went on the all day fishing trip. The charter does exactly what they say they do, which is take you out so you can fish. I don't know if the people who rated it negatively had unrealistic expectations (this isn't a luxury cruise) or a bad day of fishing. I didn't catch anything able to be kept but our friends caught two sharks that were keepers. Overall it was a fun time regardless of me not catching any keepers. All the deckhands were very polite and very patient. I have only been on 2 fishing charters my entire life so I don't have much to compare them to. Bottom line is if it is a good price for you and you are looking for something to do it is worth the trip. The included hot meal the and 2 free beers/unlimited soda is why I gave this the 5 star rating...I don't know if that is typical on charters or not.
My family and I went on the Miss Cape Canaveral Full Day fishing trip yesterday and it was awesome! I have no idea whether the previous reviewers just don't understand that these fishing trips involve moving so that fish can be caught or that these guys really work their butts off and might not be able to sit and chit chat the entire time, but the crew and total experience was amazing. Brandon and TJ were amazing deckhands and our cabin server (I didn't catch his name! Sorry!) was very friendly and personable. We caught a good amount of fish. I would definitely recommend this charter trip to anyone who asks. Thank you guys!
Unbelievably Horrible experience, I cant believe I paid for the opportunity to be ripped off as bad as I was!! They cancelled our trip 3 times, without even bothering to call us.(over 100 miles away) put us on a boat with 50 kids and promised free passes for another trip. I wouldn't go if you paid me! But true to form there are no passes! Captian tony is just a drunken idiot! likes to think he is the owner, but he is just a worn out has been, that likes to disrespect people. Drinks all day and can't find any fish.We were treated horribly, being pushed around with seating after boat was loaded. Mates just beg for money and beer the whole time. couldn't fish with 50 kids that kept getting there lines tied up with everyone elses. Not one fish caught the whole day that was a keeper(for the whole boat!). The only good reviews your going to read on this place is the ones they wrote themselves. When we ask for a refund for the horrible trip, we were threatened with calling the police. We would have waited but it was a long trip back, and he was just an ignorent jerk. expensive lesson! Unless your looking to pay for a lesson in how not to run a business. Stay Away! ANY other place has to be better than this.
the entire purpose of the trip was to make sure the crew and captain caught fish. they had sectioned off both corners of the back for the use of the crew. the deckhkands were absent for most of the trip and then had the nerve to go around asking for tips and hound people who didn't give them whaat they thought they deserved. the only bright spot is that they won't be in business long. don't waste your money -- there are much better options out there.
I have been on this boat shark fishing a few times, and have never had a bad time....EVER! The deck hands have always been very friendly and helpful, as well as the captain! You have to remember, this is a fishing boat not a cruise line, for the ppl complaining about it being dirty. And for the ppl complaining about the food, come on, this isnt a five star resteraunt, its a FISHING BOAT!!The price is really great, including food, beer, soda's, pole, etc. all you have to bring is you! And a few bucks to tip the deck hands. Getting ready to take my son on his 1st shark trip soon!!! SO looking forward to it!!!
The following is account of actual events that took place aboard the Ms Cape Canaveral, on Friday, May 20, 2011.
We went on the full day trip that left at 8am and returned at 5am. The boat didn’t get under way until about 20 minutes after 8. We spent 2hours and 45 minutes before we got to the first spot. It was 10:45 am before the first line hit the water. We were allowed to fist for about 15 minutes before the captain pulled up Anker and decided to move. We then spent the next 45 minutes waiting to fish, while we drove aimlessly around the ocean.
Then we got the word that we were allowed to fish again. This time only for an additional 20 minutes before we began to move again. To make a long story short the captain was chasing Mahi Mahi fish around the Ocean for him (and only him) to catch. None of the paying passengers were equipped to fish for this fish since it is only seen at the surface. The captain came running down from the Helm, when his mate saw a fish. The captain left the boat in gear, the props were still moving and we were told to bring up our lines, that we couldn’t fish. He spent the next 30 minutes getting the fish in. During this time we weren’t allowed to fish at all. Then after he got the fish in. We fished for about 10 minutes and were told to bring our lines in again. It turns out the Captain, was still trying to catch fish despite the paying customers weren’t allowed to fish.
Some people complained about not being able to fish and the Captain came down and got very defensive and started yelling in an older mans face. Then he decided to move again. This time we stayed put for about 30minutes, absolutely nobody caught any fish. A lot of the customers gave up trying to catch fish and just wanted to come in.
We got back. I noticed that the Captain came out and started yelling once again and the older man again. The Captain was calling the customer a “Fat A$$” and that he should eat another doughnut. I really couldn’t believe it since there were a lot of small children around. Then he said that he was going to have then arrested.
This was the worst day of fishing I ever had inn my life! I simply can’t believe how horrible the customer service was aboard the Miss Cape Canaveral, I would advise anybody to read all the complaints as they are true, trust me I saw it. I addition the galley and bathrooms were very dirty.
IF YOU ENJOY FISHING, LET ME BE CLEAR, DON’T GO ON THIS PARTY BOAT.
This was truly a disturbing day. Very disappointed.
Total fishing time was less than an hour for the entire day.
