It's A Dive Watersports, Key Largo

i am a certified scuba diver but have not dived in 12 yrs. i arrived at it's a dive fully expecting to dive. they had told me over the phone it would be no problem but when I arrived it was a different story. The manager told me he could not let me dive due to lack of experience. I was upset. I realized they had only my safety in concern. they were very sympathetic. They refunded my money and let me snorkel for free. I will be back this July to dive.(after my refresher course). I am happy they care about my safety instead of just making money. I know they care about safey first and therefore I will be back!.

This dive operation does what I call "cattle hearding" their clients. Lots of people on their dive boat & lack of individual accommodations/requests. If you leave a message asking for a return phonecall, don't expect it. Even if you've left a message at least 3 times in a row. I have never telephoned when someone actually picked up the phone. It's always gone into voicmail with no response.

Good service, good equipment, good staff, good location...the list goes on. This dive/snorkel operation always impresses. Cokes and waters in the cooler when you surface. Enjoy!

Live within striking distance by car. My daughter had dived with this op before and induced me to try it. I don't want to say, "personal service," but more than that. I have dived with them on three trips to Keys thus far (another tomorrow), and have never had a mediocre adventure. The owners are mensches who address more than the immediate dive needs. They are willing to go to any of "their" reefs, depending on sea conditions. I am an old geeze who wants to hand up my weights. All my needs have been attended to w/o further request. The crew is remarkable and always obliging. I can't imagine going with another outfit unless with a group who is committed. To me, this is it for Keys diving, when or when not staying in Largo. "It's a Dive"--will travel (from wherever I'm staying in north part of Keys), and seldom venture south. Just the best of south-Florida diving. From a south-Florida diver--to you.

I was very disappointed in the whole dive operation and experience with "It's a Dive". I picked this place because Scuba Diving magazine rated them a 100 for service. That being said, I had visions of a top-notch operator and figured we would have everything done for us and just have to dive, just like other "top ops". Boy� I figured wrong. I found out that the 100 rating was a "reader" survey so I guess the "readers" all work at the shop. Now I have nothing against doing things for myself, that's how it always is with my local diving, but when I read reviews from other divers and magazines that state that this operator waits on their every need, you sort of expect more than we got. We showed up on time and took our gear to the boat. The boat was crowded, 30+ divers. The 3 operators were busy getting the boat ready so all the divers had to ready their own gear, no problem, but not what I was expecting after reading other reviews. We took a 45 minute ride out to the dive site and I started getting pumped to blow some bubbles. The dive briefing consisted of the captain pointing and saying "The current is moving this way so dive here and be back in 1 hr." They did name a few fish we might see. No Dive Master went in the water to lead any who might wish it. No problem, but again... not what I was expecting from a top operator. Even my last cheap dive put a DM in the water. I had to edit here because of space limits on Yahoo. This had the info about the dives. To sum it up, I would say - ordinary. Had to return to the boat with 1300 psi because of their time limit. Same with 2nd dive. I guess my biggest complaint is that I feel misled. After reading many reviews and hearing about this top-notch service, I was left wondering, what service? If reviews had indicated this more accurately, I would have made a different choice. I didn't get the impression that this experience was an exception but more the rule. Did they sell the place recently to an owner who doesn't give a hoot? I don't know, but beware� The bottom line, if you like complete "do-it-yourself" diving and just need a ride to a dive spot, then this is the place. There are too many operators out there that go out of their way to provide you with a good experience and are willing to do it all for you. So pass by this place and try the next guy...it can only be better.
