Ocean Divers has excellent facilities, boats and personnel. I have dove with them several times in the past. On weekdays, when there are fewer divers, it's a much better experience. On weekends, however, let the cattle drive begin! They will fill the boat with 30 divers, including instructors with students from other shops, and snorkelers, and will probably leave and return late. You may be bumped from the trip of your choice without warning to the other boat. Be sure to arrive early to check in - however, I do not recommend this operator for experienced divers on weekends.
Great operation all 'round. Top notch in every respect. We were impressed with their commitment to a safe dive experience---from the detailed briefings to the comprehensive first aid equipment available onboard.
We dove with our own gear, but those that rented, were provided with newer models of brand name gear.
Very nice boats; quick trips to the sites. Snacks and drinks were offered by knowlegeable, friendly staff.
We did not find their charter prices to differ
significantly from other dive operators in the area, though we would definitely pay a few bucks more to have this experience on every dive!
I've been diving with Ocean Divers for twenty years and their boats, captains and crew are among the best in the Keys. They are located on the canal leading to the ocean channel, a short 30-40 minute ride to the best sites including the Spiegel Grove, the Duane, the Benwood, French and Molasses Reef. They take care of novice divers and let those of us who are experienced enjoy the delights of the underwater world according to our own profile (Nitrox or air). Their rates are comparable to any gloval dive operation. I know many divers who have returned and agree we'll keep coming back.
I have dove here for the last 6 years and all i have noticed is the huge turnover in the employees. That is not a sign of anything but the ones that i keep seeing on the dock are the one that are the worst and least caring on the boat not to mention the high price you pay to dive with these people. I bet all the good workers have gotten out of there for the same kind of reasons.
They have a nice crew, staff and boats, but the name of the game is to fill up those big boats. When they do, it's very crowded, and I'm not certain of this, but they are probably the highest priced shop anywhere in Key Largo.
