Captain Slate's Atlantis Dive Center
The biggest and best charter dive boat operation in the Florida Keys, this center offers two dive trip charters daily where you can discover the coral reefs of John Pennekamp State Park and the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary, as well as tours on a glass bottom boat and kayak rentals.
we made reservations for our snorkeltour at 1230. the boat left at 1345!! my boyfriend rented vins, and the girl at the frontdesk didnt gave us the right papers to collect the vins witch didnt result in a excuus but in a fight with one of the staffmembers, GENE. The bastert almost attacked my boyfriend and yelled at us about not having the right papers! disquisting man. but we went on the tour because we wantec to see the reef. snorkeling was oke but our day was not ood anymore. dont go there people!
I love how easy going they were. They do stick to the rules, but if you obey everything they ask of you then you will have an awesome time. I defiantly enjoyed myself here and if you are wanting to become a certified scuba diver all of their instructors are wonderful people. :O)
We went September 25, 2011. The sharks, barracuda, and big green eel were there. The goliath grouper did not show up that day. Captain Slate made sure that everyone who was interested got "touch time" with the sharks. Even though he has been doing this for years, he still truly made sure that everyone had a great time. The mates were friendly and hard working. They take a high quality video that you can buy for $88. You need to get it to show the grandkids that you actually held a 5' shark!
Best, safest, most experienced, well priced, entertaining and fun place to go diving with out of Key Largo.
Boats are a little slow (get to know your friends on the trip out and back in your on vacation!)
Land lovers complaining about seasickness... I understand but this is the Open Ocean, and sea sickness is not under a dive operators control. Having seen hundreds of "Sea Sick" people... Learn how to address the problem in advance instead of expecting a dive operator to do it for you.
I went for my open-water dive certification and it was great. The staff and boat crew were all great, they were all very friendly and helpful. The only thing that I would change if I could would be, to have the "Creature Feature"
a little less crowded. I'm not sure if the dive center had any control over the other boats and/or divers that showed up there, but there were just too many of us down there at once. Aside from that the trip was perfect and I can't wait to get down there for my birthday.
boat had twenty people most were divers. other placed we called had 40 to 50 . so i was happy about it . i thought they were nice , fellow passengers were nice allso we got lucky there. saw cool fish a baracuda that fallowed me all over . very scary and a sea turtle that was so cool. try it you wont be sorry m wife got sea sick after a while , but every one made her feel ok about it.
Nov ,09 My wife was cert. with Atalntis Dive Center and she was very happy with the way the instructor took such great lenghts to make sure she was comfortable in the water. The new manager Becky went out of her way to make sure we had a great time, she was very helpful, she knew every hot spot Key largo has for night life and great places to eat. Very happy with the service
Captain Slate's Atlantis Dive Center has a lot to offer both snorklers and divers. They have a short boat ride to some very colorful, shallow reefs teeming with brightly colored fish in Pennekamp Park for novice divers and snorkelers. Trips to the deeper reefs and wrecks like the Coast Guard cutters Duane and Bibb also run for more advanced divers. We have seen huge Barracuda and Grouper on these wrecks. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly, I once watched an employee carefully capture and relocate a tree frog from the back deck so that it wasn't trampled, with the statement,"We amphibians have to look out for each other..." Great people and great diving, what more can you ask for?
Experience and professionalism equals a SAFE dive. I have been to other dive centers in the Keys and this is the SAFEST place to dive. I like to go to a place where I see the same experienced staff, year after year. SCUBA diving is a safe fun sport, but if a problem should occur, I want to be with the best. That is one of the reasons Capt. Slate's, Atlantis Dive Center is world famous. I have been on the boat with people from all over the world, who said they heard or read about Capt. Slate.

I have been it with Captain slates Atlantis dive Center for 10 years and my experience here has always been positive. Some days are busy but I'm always taken care of and treated like a valued customer. Most of the time I am even able to give suggestions on where I would like to go diving. My diving experiences have always been good and I only dive with Captain slates Atlantis dive Center. One really happy customer
