The volunteers were extremely helpful. Also, it's one of the few places that let you have a campfire. At night, the water comes within 10 feet of your campsite, so if you're in a tent you wake up to the sound of the ocean. However that beach isn't for swimmers, but the park is within 15 minutes to some really nice beaches: Anne's Beach and Bahia Honda. You can rent a canoe. Mostly older people and very quiet at night. Even with your neighbors 20 feet away with a few bushes or trees inbetween, it's one of the most private campgrounds in the Keys. Loved it, definitely would go again.
My wife and kids can't wait to go back to this park. The camp sites are fifteen feet from the shallow water. The kids like to snorkel around and see the marine life (which is plentiful). After a relaxing lunch the whole family takes a stroll through the nature trails. If you like the ocean, this park is perfect. The only bad thing is that eventually, you have to leave.
This is a fun park. Each site fronts the water, there are no bad views. However, there are sites with rocks in the water that will keep you from swimming, wadding or launching a kayak directly from in front of your site (mid 30s through mid 40s). We were not on the rocks, but still needed water shoes to cushion the pebbles while fishing and wadding. Sunrises are spectacular. If you are a tent camper, I suggest sites 9 and 10. Bath houses are modern and kept very clean. All in all we had a most enjoyable time.
WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN PARKING YOUR CAMPER ON THE BEACH? YOU SET UP CAMP TEN FEET FROM THE BEACH SHORE LINE. IT'S WARM WATER, SHALLOW OCEAN, AND A GREAT VIEW FROM YOUR CAMPSITE. WE GOT TO SWIM WITH A BABY SHARK. IT WAS VERY RELAXING.
I WOULD SUGGEST PARKING IN CAMPSITES 11-16 NEAR THE SHOWERS. IT MAKES CAMPING EASIER AND CLEANER.
MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT THERE WERE NO SIGNS WARNING AGAINT JELLYFISH IN THE WATER. BOTH OF MY CHILDREN GOT STUNG BY A JELLYFISH. BUT, AN HOUR LATER WE WERE ABLE TO LAUGH ABOUT IT.
I WOULD RECOMEND CAMPING HERE.
Quintessential and quiet atmosphere, even with a row full of vacationers. Each site is positioned directly on the water and is conducive for both RV's and tents alike.
There are secluded paths to explore and a lagoon and of course, the gorgeous water teaming with aquatic life.
You'll find no other place on earth like it. Once you visit, you will definitely be back.
A romantic, natural escape.
