Strike Zone Charters, Big Pine Key

Cancelled trip when we arrived to check in! Reservation was made 2 months prior to thee date. Per their instructions, we called the company on the morning of our trip and were told all is well. Drove 2 hours to the place only to be told the trip was cancelled because they did not find enough people. We were never informed of this possibility during all the phone conversation. The woman at the front desk was rude, not an ounce of apology for ruining our vacation plans. The operation is not reliable to say the least. Don't let them ruin your vacation plans.

I am President of the Florida Keys Reef Lights Foundation and one of my chores at present is to organize boat trips out to the reef lighthouses in the Florida Keys (there are 6). Many "charter" boat companies don't want to do a charter that they don't do on a regular basis and when they do they seem to take a long time to get you a quote. NOT so with Strike Zone, I got a quote via email and when I saw the price I thought they had made a mistake. I called and the price was correct, I was a happy camper. The day of the trip everything went as I had ask for, the captain and 1st mate did an excellent job. I was so pleased, I talked with them that day about doing another one the same time in 2011.

The so called lady behind the desk was a nasty person, to put it politely. We called for a quote on a glass bottom boat ride and were told $25. I found a coupon in the See Florida keys book for $5 off. Well we were told our trip was already discounted. Thats funnycause the posted price is $25, so how is that discounted. Then they put a $3 per person fuel charge on top of that, which wasn't quoted to us. The glass bottom boat was also a joke. When they opened the hatches you couln't even see the fish that were against the so called glass. By that time we were ojn the reef and refund was out of the question. The 2 staff members on the boat were the only shining stars of the whole trip. Don't bother with this joke of the Keys. 0Stars is too good for them.

The Island Excursion is the best all around day trip you can have in the Keys. The staff was informative about Keys history in a way that didn't make you feel like class from learning. The snorkeling was good but the coral reefs are must prettier in Key Largo but there seem to be more fish on this trip. They took us out into deeper water to fish and everyone caught at least one if not more. We were then taken to an island where everyone on the boat was able to get off and walk in ankle deep water to a small island. When we returned to the boat we were treated to a nice lite dinner of grilled mahi mahi, salads, rolls and a beautiful Keys sunset. The price was more than right and we would absolutely do it again. I recommend this trip for couples or families. Fun day for all!

I'm writing this review to let others know of the gold mine we found on our last vacation. My family and I went to Strike Zone Charters on Big Pine Key. We went on their Looe Key snorkeling trip. What an incredible time we had. The staff were all so nice to us. My children loved them. They were also extremely knowledgable and set us up on a fantastic trip that was quite reasonably priced. The boat was big, clean and ready to roll, on time. The Captains were great too. They really knew their business. They were also very knowledgable, helpful, kind and funny. They made the trip fun for all of us. The boat ride out to Looe Key was just breath taking. The snorkeling was even better. What a ball. It was so gorgeous. What beautiful locations. We saw so many cool fish and were lucky enough to see a shark. My kids were thrilled. It was truly a once in a lifetime trip. When we returned to Strike Zone, my kids said, "that was awsome". They didn't want to get off the boat. They talked about their snorkeling trip to anybody who would listen and are still telling the story along with an array of pictures to be seen. We had a remarkable day. Bottom line, next year they don't want to go to Disney World, they want to go back to the Keys and Strike Zone Charters.

THE STAFF WAS FUNNY AND VERY HELPFUL, THE TWO DIVERS IN MY PARTY WERE A NAVY SEAL AND A SAILBOAT CAPTAIN, THEY WERE TREATED WITH MUCH RESPECT. THE OTHER SNORKLERS THAT WERE WITH ME, ONE A NOVICE AND ONE DIVE CERTIFIED HAD A GREAT TIME AND LOVED THE REEF. I HAD MY FIRST SHARK ENCOUNTER AND LOVED IT!! I took a charter in June 2008 with my sister & nieces to snorkel at Looe Key. The 2 crew members were accomodating, helpful & organized guys. I'm sorry I can't remember their names. They created a really fun atmosphere & even though I was seasick for part of the trip (for the first time-after years of boating, sailing, etc :o ) I had a great time. The snorkeling was fantastic & beautiful. We'll go again. It was a good deal for the $$. I can't remember what the charges were but remember thinking that is was reasonable. It was a great day trip. It was my first trip to the Keys & they made that part of it very memorable. Thank you, Strike Zone!

This Captain has loads of adventure to offer with his offshore fishing skills! Catching my first Sailfish, the largest Mutton Snapers I've ever seen, and other varities of great fish. He is the best captain I have ever fished with. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND YOU FISH WITH CAPTAIN MIKE LYONS!

We had a great trip to Looe Reef with the Looe Reef Dive Shop. The boat was friendly, fun, and professional and the snorkeling and diving was wonderful. Strike Zone has terrible customer service and billed our credit card without any explanation of their cancellation policy!!! They told me over the phone that they could bill my card any amount they wanted; they were truly awful. I highly recommend Looe Reef DIve shop instead.

Much nicer with a better boat trip to a great reef. Strike Zone is downright mean to their customers, caring only for the buck they will make off you. I can't believe they stay in business with such rude behavior to customers. Yuck. You have many, much better choices for snorkeling and diving in Little Torch Key.
