I was part of the grand re-opening of Lousiana Lagniappe and it was a true treat. The recent renovation was above expectation. The food and service were still wonderful but whoever did the decor of the new restaurant hit the nail on the head. It was warm and inviting. What a treat! Job well done.
The Louisiana Lagniappe in Destin, Fl. is our favorite restaurant. We have always had excellent service. The food is like nothing I have ever eaten. Cajun delicious! We have been going to the Lagniappe since 1994. Although closed one year due to hurricane damage, when we returned the following year, it was like coming home. Dinner outside with the sunset over the harbor is doubly romantic. This is a MUST Stop along the Emerald Coast!
The food was overpriced and terrible. The Shrimp Ettoufe was especially disappointing since it was the reason we picked this place (my daughter loved the ettoufe she had in new orleans). The waitress was argumentative when my daughter pointed out that the meal wasn't even the correct color. It tasted like worshteshire sauce added to a cream sauce,it was white. The $27 steak I ordered was worse than the breakfast steak you get with steak and eggs, thin and fatty. The atmosphere was as cheesy as the fake ettoufe. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this restaurant. There are so many other great places in Destin.
This restaurant is a little out of the way but after reading the reviews on this site we tried it. My husband and I both loved it!! You have to try the Grouper with chunks of crab meat and big gulf shrimp covered in a brown butter sauce. It was heavenly!! We loved it so much were goingback before we go home!! I've beenn coming to destin for 3 years, once or twice a year, and this is by far the best food i've gotten here or anywhere!! Try it you will love it!! the red beans and rice appetizer was yummy and the white chocolate with raspberry key lime cheesecake is wonderful!!
This was our first time to dine at Louisiana Lagniappe, and it more than exceeded our expectations. The service was outstanding. Our water and beverage glasses were constantly being filled, and we recevied our food in a timely manner. We ordered the bbq shrimp as an appetizer and it was delicious. My son ordered the ribeye, and the flavor was wonderful. My husband had the fried steak which he said was very good, and I ate the Oysters Lagniappe which were very tasty, but RICH. Salads had freshly grated Parmeasan cheese. The Cajun Stuffed baked potato was a very good side item. We will definitely go back next time we're in Destin.
As a tradition our family vacation includes enjoying the last night out at Louisiana Lagniappe. We have never been disappointed in the service or the food.
This year there was a glitch. The valet service parked our vehicle and apparantly in the process, broke a $20 wine glass which was secured in a cup holder. We knew it was an accident but felt someone should be responsible for the loss. The valet's had a different opinion. The manager of LL advised that it was a contracted service and we needed to deal with the valet service, putting me in telephone contact with the valet owner. He was very agreeable and sent us back to the valet employees who disagreed with their employers opinion. After another phone call and some discussion we were reimbursed for the glass and left with one of the valets stating that he was quitting (he should).
All should have been avoided by the Manager of the restaurant reimbursing us and working it out with the valet service instead of causing his customers to be further involved. The whole situation tainted the night.
Next year when we return, which we will, we will park our own car.
I have been going to Destin for 15 years. I always make sure that I go at least once to eat there when I am in Destin. Every time I hear that someone is going to Destin I always give the number and directions to Lousiana Laginappe. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
After reading all the posting here we decided to try Destin's Louisiana Lanniappe. After coming to Destin since 1972 we've never taken the side road and time to dine at the Lagniappe. I agree with many of the postings that the local food fair mostly caters to the hit and run tourist. Most food in the area average at best. There are a few golden places in destin that server great food and have a nice atmosphere. We'll we have to say (all six of us) that the Louisiana Lagniappe is one of them. Thanks to all that posted, which caused us to write this posting. Service was great (Gary E. was our waiter), food excellent (from the eggplant appetizer, to the parchment cooked grouper, and the ambiance was nice (recommend to sit outside if the weather is nice, it's a little loud and crowded inside during peak time). While it's not cheap we really felt we got our monies worth.
Cheers, I hope this review helps you like everyone else's helped me.
