rules are rules unless you do it on purpose. Be prepared to be mistreated at the Daytona Beach Kennel club and poker room if you play tournaments. Allow me to explain. They have a rule that if you expose your cards before the action is complete, you have to incur a penalty. Well, I mucked my cards and one of them hit the felt and flipped up. I was given a penalty of sitting out for a round of blinds and antes and lost 2000 of my chips in the process. The problem was that when other players exposed their cards ON PURPOSE, THEY WERE NOT GIVEN THE PENALTY. 3 times at my table cards were exposed on purpose. 2 times the dealers never called the floor. One time (WHILE I WAS STILL STANDING FOR MY PENALTY), the director comes over and gives another player a break. I say to him really? you give him a break right in front of me taking a penalty for the same thing. He says to me, "hey that was different." I said "Yeah your right, he did his on purpose and got no penalty, I flipped mine on accident and lost 2000 in chips." So there you have it, If you want to play at a place that mistreats players go ahead. It's mind boggling to me that I incurred a penalty for an accident when people who did it on purpose were never even so much as warned about it.
While I did enjoy visiting the new DBKC location during a recent vacation at Daytona Beach, it does appear to have less seating than the old track. I suppose the massive poker room took up some space that could have been used for patron seating at the track.
Nevertheless, the experience was still fantastic, and I would recommend a visit to the DBKC to to anyone in the Daytona Beach area.
Although patrons must be 18 years of age to wager on the greyhound races, the DBKC is familty-friendly.
Enjoy this old Daytona icon while you can. Great entertainment, cheap food and drinks, a part of Americana that is fast disappearing. Being at the track is like stepping back in time, some real old school fun!
The Kennel Club is a great place to go and hang out, bring a date and relax. Its in the heart of Daytona, right by the racetrack. They have live dog racing, and you can also bet on other dog and horse tracks as well. They have a food stand, but there is also a premium restaurant onsite.
The coolest thing that I like aout the place is the poker room! They have $2.00 Limint Hold em, Stud, and "Daytona" Hold em, where there is a $2.00 post before u see any cards. --- (Biiiig pots!) Enjoy!
