Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory
Located northwest of Orlando in spectacular Daytona Beach, Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory is well worth the trip and is more than your typical candy store. Spend the day at the beach working up an appetite for some delicious handmade chocolate delights. Established in 1925 by two pioneering ladies, Riddell Angell and Cora Phelps; this business has changed owners twice, but retains its excellent quality of chocolates, specialty items and gifts. Stop by this Daytona Beach landmark for a free tour of the factory to witness in person how all of the tasty treats are created the old-fashioned way. Learn interesting details and the history of the factory during the tour and enjoy samples of freshly made chocolate at the conclusion of the tour. -Diane Dilov-Schultheis
I LOVEEEE Angell and Phelps chocolate factory! They have amazing chocolate and very nice employee's that are willing to help you and find what you need. i come her every summer and spring break just so i could go and get chocolates, i live in Illinois and i would never want any other chocolate. The tour was original and real, they show u everything! Plus free samples, everyone else must be crazy cause last time i checked no other choclate store has FREE samples!!! :) who doesnt want free samples?
I loved the quaint look of the shop when I entered and I found the tour of the factory to be interesting. The displays were set up where I could find them easily. I go for the 2 pound boxes of assorted dark chocolates and munch on them for the the month I am there and then I go back and take a box home and also take a box home, for my daughter, of chocolate covered peanut butter squares. The chocolates in Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory is the best I have ever eaten. If there is anything I disliked about the place is that the price of the chocolates are a bit expensive,
The "tour" you see promoted via flyers everywhere you go in Daytona Beach is not a tour. It's you (and a bunch of other tourists that got lured into this trap) standing in front of a few different windows looking at machines that aren't running. I was extremely disappointed. The chocolate and fudge (we tried several different flavors) we ok, but nothing special. By the time all four people in my group (2 adults and 2 kids) picked out a little something they liked I was out $60. Not worth it all all. We got several of the salted caramels and they were not as good as they should have been and hard. I get better ones from Costco! Also extremely disappointed in the chocolate easter eggs we got that were coconut or peanut butter filled.
I absolutely love the chocolates......freshly made every day and the tour is well worth the trip. American chocolate is synonymous with american apple pie.....great "american" treats. I bring this up because like all patriotic americans we pride ourselves in the type of foods we eat that speaks to our love of country. The only draw back that I encountered while visiting this factory were the "political" greeting cards that are on display. A few of them are, in my opinion, anti american. Greeting cards depicting our president in an unfavorable light is contridictary to the message that this store should be advocating to the public, not mention to kids who were in full view throughout the store. I brought this to the attention of the manager a few days later hoping that she would apologize for the oversight. She was defensive, did not understand my viewpoint and had no idea that they were selling/sending such a message to the public. I hope that she will bring this to the attention of the owners and remove such offensive materials from the store. What is chocolate other than another american experience.
Otherwise, my experience was quite pleasurable.
My wife and I took the free Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory tour on Valentine's Day. Despite it being crowded (it was their busiest day of the year) we had a good time and learned a lot. The chocolate was delicious, and the tour guide was knowledgeable. Definitely a good place to visit if you're a chocolate lover.
We enjoyed the 20 minutee tour. Simple, yet interesting. Enjoyed the sample at the end of the tour.
The Chocolate Honeybees were awesome! Husband loved the caramels. VERY good milk chocolate.
The story of the beginning of the business and how they have maintained it with only 3 changes of hands is great!

I can't speak for the tour, but the cafe is consistently wonderful! The staff is attentive and friendly - I never have to wait long for my meal to be served.
I have lunch there at least once a week since I discovered Angel and Phelps. What a breath of fresh air it is to escape the over crowded fast food and chain restaurants on International Speedway Blvd.
