Pinellas County Heritage Village, Largo

I could not believe what happened at this park. I was just a bystander and saw a small wedding party come in to Heritage Village thinking this is so sweet, there's going to be a wedding. A park official came out to say that unless you reserve and pay $250 there can not be a wedding. This couple and their group were well behaved and probably would have been done in minutes, were told, I'll call the Sheriff and you will all be arrested! They then said how about doing it on the bridge, They were then told every one there will be in handcuffs and arrested! Sham on this lady who told them this and sham on Heritage Village! I will never give to this park as I have in the past, not another dime, and I have given plenty, several hundred times more than the lousy fee they wanted for a wedding

I'm new to the area and last weekend biked from Clearwater/Safety Harbor area to the Heritage Village to check it out. The advice to go early and pack a picnic lunch is good advice...I wish I'd seen it! My only regret from the trip was that I hadn't left earlier. (Park closes at 4 pm) There was so much more to see than I expected. I wasn't able to view the Village completely, but what I did see was so enjoyable and well plotted that I will definitely return! The atmosphere is relaxed and there's a lot of room to explore and "discover" the various homes at your leisure. The grounds are well kept and the little cobblestone paths have generous seating along the way as well as great little placards that tell you much of the history of each home/building you're viewing. There is also a lot of good tree coverage which some added coolness to the day. This is a gem for family "education" days as my mom used to call them and really give the visitor an opportunity to learn some of the history of the families that first made their homes here. I recommend bringing a camera and allowing time (1 hour seemed to short) to bury yourself in some local history. I am definitely going back!!!
