South Florida Museum
The South Florida Museum in Bradenton is located along 10th Street West. The museum has a great collection of relics and fossils of mammals and marine animals in the area. The museum also has detailed exhibits of the Paleoindian, Native American and other historic cultures and how they evolved over time. Some of these exhibits are Fabulous Florida Seas, Archaic Peoples, Land of Change, among others. The museum also has a hall of Medical History, where you can see the advances medical science has made. Apart from permanent displays, the museum also showcases temporary exhibits on a regular basis, including a photography workshop focusing on wildlife photography.
On the edge of downtown Bradenton you can find this jewel, with a planetarium and a manatee this museum is fun for the whole family. Exhibits depict life in Florida from the Indians thru today and are very interesting.
Everything, from the front entrance exterior to all the exhibits was very impressive. To really enjoy it, you must dedicate several hours, as there is a lot to see and read.
Good displays for all ages, especially the manatee; his trainer gave a very interesting lecture as he feed him.
Willprobably return on our next trip to Florida.
Although a tiny bit pricey, our family had lots of fun here. The toddlers loved the manatee and watched him swim for over half an hour. They were very interested in all of the bones and the planetarium had a kids show in the afternoon. A great rainy afternoon activity!
