professional captain..doing north/south moves routinely . used to stop here some ten years ago and recently decided to treat vessel owners to what I considered to be an above average overnight stay. at one time.. which resulted in an extreamly embarrassing experience... noticing the absence of larger yachts, was soon explained by the absence of water as one enters the access "ditch" (2.5 feet) at low tide... tight quarters to the fuel dock....minimal depth around the "t" head docks.(churned mud the entire experience) then only to find the absence of t.v cable availibility, making my owners very unhappy with my choice of stay. Management offered our option to leave the facitlity if we weren't happy. Something has dramatically changed this once very cozy ,superbly, classy transient stop during the past 7-10 years.. Also adding to the inconvienience to this facility was the absence of a courtesy auto (a necessity due to the distance to restaurants and shoping). I will no longer consider this stop in the future, favoring and recognizing the efforts being demonstrated by the upgraded facility located at downtown fernandina.
The new owners are not concerned with customer service. Their service department is practically non-existent now with a long wait list. This marina is no longer a friendly place except from the very few remaining old employees.
I have stayed at this facility a few times in the past under the old ownership and management and loved it when i stayed there. The new management doesnt seem to care about the boaters needs or wants. I felt like a burden when i asked for help or asked a question. Some things do change, for the worse.
As a Captain who assist the residents of AIYB on their vessel repairs and consults, I have noticed and have been expressed by the residents that under the new Suntex ownership, the Yacht Basin has depleted in all areas, (customer service, repair quality, and all around atmosphere), The dock hands act like their doing you a favor to assist, and their appearance and dress code is dirty and not matching from one to another. The residents have limited access to the manager. The facility has had no improvements that were promised upon new ownership. The dredging has been non existant, thus creating dirty and clogged seastrainers and raw water systems. Just wondering where has the traditional customer service values gone to?? Nice place to not be all it could be with the right people in place.
Eliminated men's and women's showers in one restroom to add a reataurant so there is now only one pare of showers for the entire marina. The bathrooms are dirty and some are out of order. And they have raised the price.
Wonderful Experience, can't wait to get back their

It is simply the best place to moor your boat. The staff is very service oriented prices are compatible with the type of service this marina provides in the area.
The security and friendliness of all I met was outstanding!!!!! I intend to use their sister Marina in Alligator Point, FL in the next weeks. No dislikes
