Palace Saloon, The
The oldest saloon in the state of Florida that has remained in the same location, this colorful watering hole was established in 1878 and features handpainted murals, a handcarved 40-foot mahogany bar, and a pressed tin ceiling. This former haunt of the Carnegies and Rockefellers serves an array of potent drinks and features live entertainment, ranging from rock 'n roll bands to acoustical musicians, on most evenings.
I was in the Palace the other night, last night of my vacation. First The jerk working the door was rude and giving me a hard time, BEFORE I even get in the door! Then I had to wait 10 minutes for the bartender to get me a beer, while he finished talking to some girl. I'm mean, I'm all about talking to the ladies, it's a Bar for chirst sakes! But get me my Beer real quick guy! The smoke was so bad my eyes were burning most of the night! It was the same thing in each 1 of the 3 bars they offer, long waits to get a drink and rude service all night.
Just about ruined my whole vacation.
I will NEVER be returning back to the Palace in all my years that I have return to Fernandina.
Damn shame cause Fernandina is such a beauitful, historic place, to almost have an entire vacation ruined by 1 place, thats is obviously run people that dont care about there customers!!
