Campo de Fiori
A lively, warm, and festive Italian restaurant which serves some of the most authentic Italian cuisine in the area, prepared with only the finest ingredients and complemented by a great selection of fine wines. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
My fiance and I stopped in to make reservations for dinner the following evening. The plan was to elope (today) in Aspen and return to Vail to celebrate our marriage. Campo de Fiori looked appealing from the outside, so we ventured in to consult the menu. At the host's stand we were approached by one of the owners, Luigi Giordani. The owner rudely interrupted
us as were deciding on a time for the reservation. He barked: "What time?" No time, Luigi.
For a more welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend La Tour, a two minute walk from Campo de Fiori. There we were warmly greeted and staff were genuinely enthused about the prospect of our nuptials. I'll report back later today about the food and service.
We chose the place with my wife for an early dinner as the ambience looked nice and it was not crowded. The prices were definitely higher than the average, so we assumed it should be good. From the moment we walked in the person that sat us was rude. The waiter gave us constant attitude and kept correcting italian pronounciation. The food came out incredibly quickly, which makes me wonder if it was freshly done. The food was very greasy and oily, very overdone (too many flavors), and was just not good. We just felt rushed throughout the meal and my plate was so bad I did not even finish it. I have eaten at many italian restaurants and have spent a considerable amount of time in northern italy, and I can confirm this place is not good. We paid an overpriced bill for bad food, terrible service, and just a bad experience. I felt unhealthy the rest of the evening after eating this. We will never go back to this restaurant, even though we regularly go to Vail and Beaver Creek. Just thought I would post my review as I was very displeased.
