We want to ride again!
By Kerri, 10/29/09
My 4 yr old son, Jack, and I had a great time with Carol's Red Runner's Dog Sled Tour. (Jan.2009). Not only was it incredibly gorgeous country, but Jack got to help feed the dogs and harness them. This was so special to him to participate in that. It may have been expensive, but I thought it was worth every penny. We learned alot about dog sledding---those dogs are REALLY strong. I was able to drive(mush) for a little while. I learned terms like "dipping" when the dogs eat snow while they're running, to cool down. Anyway, Jack and I are planning on returning in Jan. 2010 and would like to do this again. We learned all the dogs names while on the trip too. She had some young dogs in Jan.2009 that did NOT pull the sled yet. I'll be curious to see how big they've gotten in 1 yr. Anyway, I would recommend this experience to everyone. Yes, it is a "little" rough. It's not like riding in a Cadillac. LOL! But it is so fun, and so REAL! Just gorgeous countryand beautiful dogs!! Well worth it!

Great Adventure

This was an awesome experience. I love dogs and I can see that these dogs love what they do. The staff was really pleasant and helpful and it was a great afternoon. I would recommend everyone try this at least once.

Awesome ride!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/21/07
Red Runner Dog sled tours, Carol, her human workers, and her team of dogs gave us an afternoon of pure thrills. The pair of eagles floating overhead, the care Carol and her other sled drivers give the dogs, the attention to the customers, and the enjoyment all show made our trip a great experience. Carol and her drivers made sure each customer got to experience the real dog sledding by involving us in all aspects of dog sledding. If you are in Steamboat, make this one of your vacation highlights. You won't regret it!

Highly Recommended

Carol Bloodworth's dog sled tour was the highlight of our week in Steamboat this winter. She was so friendly and made us feel so at ease with something at which we were entirely inexperienced! We got to know the dogs and helped put their harnasses on before going out on the 8 mile trip. My husband drove the team for several miles and said it was a blast. It was expensive, and lacked some of the creature comforts that similar outfitters and tour operators usually provide. For example, chairs to enjoy hot chocolate and snacks at the end of the trip would have made it feel a little more worth the $$. Having said that, though, Carol and her assistant, Jeremy, were so incredibly pleasant, I'd highly recommend their trip if you are inclined to go dog-sledding while in Steamboat.
