We just finished out first season with the Runyon Theater. It’s a friendly place with the highest quality standards. Most of the performers have worked professionally or have been professionally trained and it shows. The building they are in is old and sadly in need of improvement but offers and atmosphere that harks back to a bygone time. Though the restrooms seriously need up dating. I have spent much more for much less in the theater in the past.
I have never left a show at intermission until I went to see Sweeney Todd here. Tickets are extremely over priced and the building that houses this so called theatre company is just plain gross. There are WAY better shows being produced other places in town! Do not waste your time here!
My husband and I decided to go see Annie Get Your Gun for one of our date nights. We love going to live shows and plays, and were really excited to see our first show at the Runyon Theatre. It was pretty pricy, and FAR below "professional" quality. The actors and actresses had hardly any expression, but basically stood on stage reciting their lines. And there were hardly any props used to help out this sad, piddly crew of "actors." We nearly cried of boredom, and almost didn't make it to intermission to get up and leave.
There is great enthusiasm in this company, but the production values are poor. It is called a professional theater, but it's really no different than any community theater or high school production as far as skill level on stage or in the management of the business.
