1554 (Black Ale) New Belgium Brewing, Ft. Collins, Colorado 9+ A very bad name for a great beer, one taste of this extraordinary beer and you wonder who the hell came up with this name. It is a pure delight to drink with a great no after taste beer. Three cheers for the master brewer that came up with this excellent beverage. You may have to travel a bit to find this brew but the time is well spent stock up when you find it.
The New Belgium Brewery is a beautiful facility in downtown Fort Collins. They offer tours every 30 minutes (and if you want to take one, you better get a ticket EARLY or a couple days in advance even!) that explain in detail the whole brewing process. The staff is just awesome, and it's a great environment to hang out in! Each person gets a short menu, and gets to pick 4 beers from that menu to taste. Each taster is about 6 ounces. And the best part...it's all free! But you'll probably end up leaving with some beer or a t-shirt or something, so bring a bit of cash. It can take a while to find a seat, so make sure you put your patient cap on. Fun way to kill a couple hours!
I love going to the New Belgium Brewing Co because the staff is all so great and they make you feel right at home.
I love the fact that they started out only a couple selling their beer on their bikes. I also love the fact that they are all family and friends.
And they take you to Belgium after 5 years. They really take care of their people.
I only wish my husband could get a job there.
