Very windy/Very nice
You can tell right away the creative thought that went into the design of this course. Most of it looks very pretty, scenic,a nice layout...it feels at the same time both inviting and a bit foreboding....the sloping of some fairways that flow right into terrible hazards that run along the length of a whole. There are many places where an errant drive and errant iron will leave you with a ball lost in the marsh.
But most critical factor is the Wind. Half the time it is directly in your face,a pretty strong wind(very strong from the highest elevated back tees) that will add about 40 yards to the length of the hole.
So you cant judge the distance by the yardage markers or the card. You need to know what club to hit into a strong wind.
Half dozen holes, the wind is strong at your back and you can slam your drives 300 yards(right into the well placed hazards). Another half dozen holes that strong wind cuts across the fairways, but holds up the ball to leave shots one or two clubs short of the green(or rolling off into the marshes)
Its a very nice golf course, very pretty, and Windy. the wind is the biggest factor on every hole.
There are many courses that are windy in the delta area(lone tree is very windy.... too windy to enjoy in my opinion)
But I wouldnt let the wind stop me from playing hiddenbrooke. Its a lovely course to enjoy. It has good scenic beauty. The entire back nine are all favorite holes in my book. course conditions are first rate.
and... Its not crowded ,and thats a nice feeling. The staff is friendly and helpful.
