Claremont Rug Company
Connoisseurs will appreciate great beauty, while savvy business people will marvel at their value investment posibilities while at this store that features some of the finest rare antique Pursian rugs in the world.
Last Fall, I visited the very highly respected Claremont Rug Company and then bought a rug at their Claremont II store, which is set up for newcomers to fine Oriental rugs. As I expected the quality of their rugs was spectacular, but what I did not expect was the quality of their service, which was even more than I expected from start to finish. In fact, I checked with the Better Business Bureau and their rating was A+, which I expect is quite a feat for a business that been open for 30 years. I plan to return to their Claremont Rug Company during my next trip to the San Francisco/Oakland area to consider more substantial antique carpets for my dining room and living room.
I visited Claremont Rug Company last month, and I must say I have never seen such amazing carpets. In their unassuming, yet gracious gallery, what I experienced was rug-after-antique rug of fantastic quality and great beauty, all with designs and color combinations unlike anything I have experienced before. Although they were 100-150 years old, all were in wonderful condition.
Jan Winitz and his incredibly knowledgeable staff could not have been more helpful. He is quite a pro, and after listening carefully to my tedious description of my dining room, he showed me the ideal rug in his very first selection! Of course, like the majority of his rugs, it is not inexpensive -- a classical case of you get what you pay for. However, knowing that rugs of such rare quality and great beauty are excellent investments, my husband and I are discussing which rooms we wish to furnish first and plan a return trip soon.
