Reminiscent of the supper clubs of the 30s and 40s, this elegant restaurant in this historic building serves gourmet American cuisine. Live music and the fabulous panoramic coastal views are an added attraction to this wonderful old place.
We had reservations and were a few mionutes early on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly. The service was great for the most part, appetizers, especialy the crab cakes were divine. The wine was most excellent that was recommended by the person helping with wine decisions. The chocolate souffle, heavenly. We had very nice after dinnner drinks and danced to a very pelasant band. Very nice for that romantic, special occasion. Just don't have the lobster, it was very chewy and I didn't even eat much of it.
My entire night was awful. The service was indescribably atrocious. Everyone (managers, hosts, valets) was rude and inconsiderate. Reservations at 8:30, didn't get sat until 10, first course at 10:10, second course (salad!!!) still had not arrived by 11pm. With the hostile, condescending attitude, enough was enough. We left at 11pm. RIDICULOUS. Do not waste your money. We get better service at our local hamburger joint. If you want to blow $300, go somewhere where they treat you decently. This was inexcusable.
I went there for my birthday,I was in a group of 6. We went on a Monday, and were the first ones there, reservations had been made.Me and my group have no complaints. The staffs interaction with us, the food, the service, the entertainment made the price of the dinner so worth it. We enjoyed ourselves, and spread the word to other friends, family and coworkers that they should go to the Skyroom. No complaints, total enjoyment. Shelly
I, like a previous reviewer, experienced the rudeness and hatefullness of the management of the Skyroom. Their view is beautiful and food is okay, but I could never get past how they treat their customers. I was yelled at, called names, and threatened for having the nerve to complain about their horrible customer service and arrogance. This is the most unprofessional establishment and I will never give them my business again. There are so many other restaurants in Long Beach that have great food AND nice people who deserve your money. I recommend you stay away.
We wanted a romantic place in Long Beach and chose the Sky Room. Our dining experience was horrible! The service was terrible and the food was average, at best. We waited over 2 1/2 hours for a piece of bread and a $15 salad. When we questioned the inattentive wait staff as to where our meal was, they were very snippy. Our meal arrived lukewarm and below average tasting. We spent over $200 for 2 of us on a horrible dining experience. The place was loud too. The only plusses were the view and music. There are MUCH better places to eat on Long Beach. What a disappointment!
My boyfriend took me to The Sky Room on our two year anniversary in March '06. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated like royalty. The service cannot be beat. However, sometimes the servers were too good. I asked my boyfriend a question about the history of the restaurant...the server overheard, and quickly gave me a paper with information on it. The food is so-so, but the ambiance makes up for it. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, though! It's expensive!
I was there recently with my girlfriend and overheard the manager or maitre-d yelling at what appeared to be customers. Calling them low lifes among other things.Saying " we don't need your business" He was way out of line. I don't know what the customers did but it appeared that they were making a complaint. No matter what the customers said we were shocked that a maitre-d was behaving so badly. We will never go back and will certainly pass this information along to the rest of my corporation.
What a great place for restaurant. Beautiful views, nice ambiance. But they need to hire a new chef. For the price and experience the food just doesn't cut it. There is nothing outstanding on their menu. In fact we ordered raw oysters for appetizers and they were frozen...yuck!!!! Just a horrible eating experience. Enought to keep me away from the great views.
My girlfriend and I visited the restauraunt for the first time during Valentine's weekend. The food was amazing. I had the osso buco which was the best I have ever tasted and mind you I have been to some fancy restauraunts in my day. The service was excellent and relaxed. It was very pricy, $300 for two. But then again we had about 7 drinks appetizers and dessert. Nevertheless, this is the best restauraunt I have ever visited.
