Virg's Landing, Morro Bay

Wonderful crew that was truly helpful and fun. From the moment we arrived at the offices at check-in, to boarding, fishing, and departing the crew was fun, helpful, and worked their tails off for all the passengers. They were amazingly attentive; as anytime I needed assistance, they seemed to magically appear to help without me even asking once. The prices were fair and very reasonable; it is an “à la carte” plan – you pay for only what you desire and use - no more, no less. If you have you own reel - no charge, you own hooks and bait - no charge, your own food and beverages – no charge, if you clean you own fish – no charge, if you bring you own towels and bag – no charge, if you have a licenses – no charge. I read some past patrons complained about the extra charges; come-on…get real, for the cheap price they charge for a day of fishing, what do you expect? The base fair was so cheap that I almost did not go for fear that it was “too cheap”. So, expect to pay twice the base rate if you need everything from meals-to poles-to cleaning the fish-to beverages-to the tips…still very reasonable. They were especially good with kids and first-time fisherman; I will definitely be a repeat guest. Thanks for a wonderful day of fishing.

These people where so rude from beginning to end. On top of costing $100/person, they yell at anyone who is sick and close to the bathroom, not to vomit in it. "Don't you throw up in my bathroom, you take that business somewhere else," one worker said. Immediately after the boat took off, every person who worked for Virg's was smoking a cigarette. When workers were not giving orders to people who paid for their help, they were busy talking trash about them behind their back. Also, you are fishing for 6 out of 8 hours, catching rock fish, which you can catch anywhere, and you have to stand the whole time. Worst of all, I came home only to realize that they double charged me for everything! Even if you don't get seasick, it was a very expensive and poorly run operation.

I've been fishing with Virg's for a few years now and look forward to every trip. I usually go out on the Harbor Pathfinder for there mellow half day trips with my kids and the crew couldn't be better. Captain Sharon Rowley knows the good spots and the deckhand Mike is great showing the kids a good time and makes sure they catch fish. Overall a great experience.
