this is a great place to get in shape for a good membership price!! if you want something better that smell better and there is no Kids running around go somewhere else and pay whatever the menbership will cost and done with it!!!
I personally think the staff is really great and the facility itself is in good shape and so is the equipment, winter is cold and sumer is hot so,,, wear the appropiate clothing and stop whinning.
I was member of this club from October 09 and was playing in soccer leagues. The membership fee for one year is fine but each 45 days, day will ask for another $80 for each new soccer season. Without having any respect, they will put memberships on-hold for no specific or logical reasons. They will not let you know your membership is on-hold or why is on-hold until you are ready to play and they will tell you that you cannot play. Once you ask them why, they will keep directing you to another person in their staff who is usually not there. After 2 weeks of going back and forth and couldn't play for your team, they will tell you that you can not play. This is called Waste of Time and Waste of Money you paid.
We went there to watch the men play indoor soccer. They have seating upstairs above the soccer "field" and you can also buy drinks and snacks at their bar.
We were impressed, and watching the soccer was fun too!
I went to the Bladium to try it out last month and the customer service was aweful!
I toured the facility w/ Chase and she only wanted to help me out if i provided her my credit card information! I finally paid the guest fee to try it out and everything she mentioned on the tour I wasn't able to do? I tried to shoot around on the basketball courts but their were unsupervised kids kicking the balls on it! I tried to rockclimb but it was reserved for a birthday party! There was this stale odor throughout the club and none of the staff had smiles on their face. I would not recommend this facility!
I have lived in the city of Alameda for 8 years and have been a member of several fitness/health clubs in the past. I joined Bladium because it was close to my work. To make a long story short, the fitness equipment is always broken, the fitness department couldn't help me with any of my fitness questions about losing weight, the club is constantly freezing, the aerobic rooms are small and they have an unusual odor, and when asking for help with fitness questions I was amazed that the general manager had no idea what was going on in his own club nor what services were offered. I found the club to be seriously lacking in people that knew anything about what was going on within their own facility. I AM NO LONGER A MEMEBER OF THIS FITNESS CLUB AND WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE! There are to many fitness clubs out there with better service and ability to help me reach my goals.
David (one of the owners) and Dawn (child sports coordinator) have been very receptive to any ideas I have in order to improve the free sports program for older kids. I love the fact that I can work out and watch my girl rollerblade, rock climb, and play soccer downstairs! Members are very respectful and the new gym-wide paint job and flat screens add a touch of class. I've been a member at 24-hour, YMCA, and Bally's. Bladium's free child care and inexpensive membership makes it so there is no excuse for single parents to get their butt in shape! Don't like something? Tell David and he will actually fix it! Nice to have an owner who listens to clientele.
If you're looking for a gym that offers an opportunity to do so much more, try the bladium...soccer, hockey, bastketball, volleyball, rock climbing, batting cage, lacrosse...can't beat it, prices are reasonable and there is a bar for friends to hang out at and watch you play hockey/basketball/volleyball/soccer.
It was a dumpy. There was no wheel chair accessability. The weight room was small. The aerobics room was small. Not a good fitness schedule. It seemed as if the fitness was just an after thought.
In the summer Bladium is too hot and in the winter it is freezing.
I think they are charging too much for too little.
