last trip was disapointing
By lin, 2/4/09
we have been going to craighead forest park since the year 2000. always enjoyed the park. the problem is the rules are always changing. we were just there during the ice storm no power for 6 days which was fine until they brought the generator out for the camp host an then said you can run a extension cord if you like here's a 14 guage extension cord to run 100 foot which barely run the charger to charge our battery back it was appreciated but should of done more for the paying customer. there was only two paying customers at the time. we tried to leave but they wouldn't remove the overhead branches so we could get out an then they baracaded an closed the park for public safety we had to move the baracade to get our vechicle in an out finally after 6 days we were able to get our camper out. moral of the story is when you enter the park an pay your fee the southern hospitality comes to an end. we will go back this spring its a relaxing park an we have meet many travelers throughout the years an we get to see them every spring an fall at craighead forest park. roy an lin

Disappointing.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/11/09
The best part of the forest and park are the things people can't take credit for, of course, the trees and wildlife. The lake would be pretty if not full of orange plastic fencing, old tires and other debris, not to mention all the fishing line and tackle with which the "expert" fishermen liter it, leaving it to cripple or kill the ducks, geese, and coots who become tangled in it. I've met some very nice people there, those who remember to bring bread and other food for the water fowl (no feed is given to them by the Game and Fish Commission), follow park rules about keeping their dogs on leashes but have seen more who don't believe the rules apply to them, don't leash their dogs at all and encourage their dogs to attack the water fowl, those who take their dogs off the leash and encourage them to attack the water fowl, those who throw stones, etc. at the water fowl, and others who complicate traffic by running, walking their dogs, bicycling, riding ATVs, skateboards, etc. there instead of on the paths and other designated areas. It's also not unusual to find people engaged in various sexual activities inside and outside of their vehicles there and I've seen dead waterfowl left to rot in the water and on land instead of being taken care of by park personnel, so parents beware.

Prefection

Moved from the city where parks are trashed out and crowded. Craighead Forest Park is Heaven. Very quiet and clean. Good place to relax and think.

We can't wait to go back!
The park is great! They have a playground with a castle and swings and a slide. The wildlife is very friendly. Best of all, it's free. Get away from your computer and go there right now.

Some like to walk
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/06
No, its not Disney World. But it is a nice place to take a little hike with your favorite four legged friend. It is very convenient to town and is relatively quiet and peaceful. I had the woods to myself on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed myself very much. The nature center has many interesting things for the whole family to participate in.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/05
all they have to do is a walk trail and play grounds I would like to see more things to do there like a new swim area and paddle boats I really enjoyed going when I was little but now it's just not as fun the bathrooms could use alot of attention they were nasty but the park is pretty just needs a few more things to do maybe some kiddies rides or something just needs more things to do
