The largest grouping of bathhouses in the United States, Bathhouse Row features eight turn-of-the-century bathhouses, Superior, Hale, Maurice, Quapaw, Ozark, Lamar, Fordyce, and Buckstaff, in Neoclassical, Renaissance Revival, Spanish, and Italianate styles.
I took my mother and my daughter to Buckstaff Bathhouse. We all had a wonderful visit. I already look forward to next trip. I have been twice and this last trip was out of this world when it comes to the massage. If you go, request Robbin Higgins to do your massage. You will not be disappointed!
me and my husband spent our honeymoon in Hotsprings. Bathrow was very interesting and neat. It was neat to tour the bath houses, such as the Fordice Bath House. I would suggest going there while in Hotsprings.
I you llike history, then you will love walking back to the last century at bath house row. Walk where people like bill clinton and al capone came to get a spa or message.
The bath houses have been restored to their former glory. then sit in the front porch and just people watch. and the best part it is free.
Bathhouse Row in Hot Springs is a delightful place to visit and the small size of the downtown district makes it easy on the feet and provides plenty to see and do. The people are very nice and there is a slowed down pace to things. The only thing that brings you back into modern day is the occasional semi that rolls down main street. I highly recommend a visit to Hot Springs if you were to find yourself in the area.
We were 1st timers and we took the Fordyce Bath House tour. The elderly lady we had for our tour guide gave the most wonderful informative and colorful tour! She was a doll! We were amazed at the class and beauty of the place. Some of those old timey instruments were pretty scary looking...there is definitely something to be said for modernization of some things!!! Some of those electronic type therapies looked more like something from an ancient torture chamber! Viva la progress!!! Then on to Buckstaff Bath House for a spa treatment what an experience! They still use the original tubs and plumbing fixtures the tiled floors are the originals the steam cabinets are the originals what a treat!!! You will regret not trying this spa treatment out!! The place is squeeky clean and the staff is SOOO friendly!! It was my 1st time at a spa and every one made me more than comfortable! There were only 2 or 3 "working" bath houses the rest were under restoration construction and believe me I intend to try every one of them! I was also expecting the place to be pricey...you cannot beat the price My husband and I got the bath and massage package takes about 2 hours and cost 50 bucks and you feel like a million bucks when you walk out!!! GO AHEAD...TRY IT!!!
You must first go to the visitor center at Bathhouse Row for a FREE tour of the building and a FREE video of how to take a bath at a bath house.
We found that only one bathhouse was open and it closes during lunch and by 1500 for the day! Will make better plans next time.
The bathhouse row architecture is something not to be missed! Gorgeous walk by the mostly closed buildings. There's information about each bathhouse on little historical plaques out front of the individual buildings. There are also springs and fountains to stop and check out.
It's free and gorgeous, so of course it's worth it!
Bath house row was an extremely interesting and historic area we saw when visiting Hot Springs. We did not actually take the baths at the Buckstaff, but did tour the Fordyce (visitor's center) and saw what the process was more or less like.
We loved bathhouse row.we went to tour all of them.it was so cool.I just wish we could have stayed longer. But we will be back.the parking was kinda hard to do.there is not enough parking.make sure that when u are downtown read all of the signs.
