Miss Laura's Visitor Center, Fort Smith

If you are interested in "unique" periods of our nation's history, you will find a lot to see and learn at Miss Laura's; the people there have a sense of humor, hospitality and history that makes for a lovely visit! Sometimes places like this don't seem like "fun" but more like "work" because you have to actively seek out the details to enjoy, and you don't sit on your behind while a big show splats out on a stage. But this is a thinking person's opportunity! Did you know that for a time, this town legalized prostitution? That there were several of the bordellos? That there was a mysterious explosion and there are intriguing theories about who may have masterminded the tragedy? It's riveting if you aren't lazy. Girls, don't forget to pick up your FREE "health certificate" that makes you employable at your local gentleman's social club!

The house was quite pretty, I love that time period's style of decor. There wasn't really a lot to see, but it was nice enough, and my mom, who's name happens to be Laura, got tons of great stuff in the gift shop area.
