Built around the site of the first Territorial Governor's Mansion, this museum features an extensive collection of artifacts dating back to Arizona's early territorial days. This museum is known as the crown jewel of history museums in Arizona. Open daily, but do check for the seasonal hours schedule.
Beautiful grounds - original and first home for territory governor. Exhibits cover early Prescott - mining,ranching, railroads,and Yvapai indians. Old school house and ranch house. Old wagons. Docents were very knowledgeable.
We just happen to take a left turn and found the museum. We had a wonderful time. the exhibits and grounds are beautiful. the staff was gracious. The buildings are amazing, from the cabins to the victorian houses. excellent experiance
The trip was originally planned as a research for family background. All we had were some old names and dates from when our family first came to Arizona. This museum showed us so much about the kind of lifestyle the people lived with, it was the perfect place to go. We even found records of my great grandfather there. It was an incredibly rewarding trip.
