Hayley's was the beginning of the downtown revolution. It has now become a downtown landmark. This friendly local bar welcomes everyone. There is never a cover charge. Enjoy pool, darts, jukebox, and daily drink specials.
This is what most people call a dive. If you want a meat market or snobbishness, you will have to go down the street. It is smack dab in the middle of fun, especially during Mardi Gras.
In addition to the location, there are 3 things that make this place a consistent return spot for me:
1. Staff - They are the friendliest I have met in my many years of darkening the doors of bars. Even though I only see them once a year, they remember my name and I remember theirs.
2. Jukebox - Great selection. No one is hogging it so it is easy to put in request. It has a big variation of artists.
3. Drinks for the cost - No pretention in here. You get what you ask for although this isn't the place you usually see people drinking martinis. It is a great mixed drink or beer joint. PBR is cheap.
Downside - It can get crowded and the bathrooms are not the nicest in town.
