I work at Waterville!
I am 17 years old, and I am a lifeguard at Waterville. I see quite a few people complaining that the lifeguards didn't answer your questions, or gave short responses. Red Cross trains us to do so. It only takes 3 seconds for someone to become a passive drowner. As for the cleanliness, we clean the bathrooms regularly, more than 7-8 times daily. If there is any suspicion of anything in the water that might be uncomfortable or un clean for the guests, we shut down the water attraction you are on, and thorughly clean it. As for the food, our employees are very clean, wear hats, gloves, etc. And HAND MAKE the pizza and other items. It is not PRE FROZEN, so yes you might have to wait a bit. If we allowed outside food and drink, we take the risk of people bringing glass bottles, and or alcohol, and this is a family friendly park. The go karts are safe, but we must place signs to ride at your own risk, mainly because we allow younger kids to ride on them. And yes, prices are going to be a little high because we just suffered an oil spill. I LOVE working at Waterville. The managers are awesome, and they really do care about your well being. I hope that the tourists visiting from not on the Gulf understand the effect our area has suffered.
Also, Waterville is one of the only big waterpark AND amusement park attractions in the area, unless you want to drive half way through Florida.
Overall, its a great place to be. There IS shade, there is food, there is cleanliness, and us lifeguards DO care about you, and we will call for someone to assist you, because we are instructed to keep our eyes and attention focused on the water. And if you need immediate assistence, the arcade is a few feet from the waterpark.
