Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores

This place is a wonderful place to take boys that like to explore. The area is nice and is in a great location with good resturants close by and walmart right around the corner. Great place to take the family for a week or weekend trip. recommend to all campers to try out. we will be back. p.s. glad the fishing pier is finally finished.

We stayed at this camp ground many years ago when their was many trees and much vegetation. We finally made it there again and loved our stay again, although past hurricanes have made it look very different. The bathhouses were very clean and smelled wonderful each time we used them. It was close to the new beach pavillion. Pets are welcome. Grass was cut, signs were displayed. The new pool, rec. room and dock was under construction, this area will be very nice when completed. The campground was close to Wal-Mart, restaurants, stores, beaches, fishing, nice people in the registation area and all for a reasonable price. We will return. The Nichols Family

My husband & I are from Illinois and we stayed at the campground in September of 2008. We had a blast. It's far enough out to be secluded from town but yet close enough to be very convienent getting to restruarant, stores, beaches & such. At night we could here the ocean from our campsite. There was not much shade or vegetation due to the hurricane a few years back, so it was quite hot during the day outside, but we enjoyed it all the same and are definately going back again this September. The people working the campground are very friendly and the air conditioned shower houses were great. Hopefully the new boardwalk will be open when we get there.

campgnd has been rebuilt with full hook-ups on all (near 500) sites, however the trees and all other vegetation is still dead, its a moon scape. also the park seems to allow junk trailers with trash on the sites. this is definately not an up-scale vacation spot. the park has wonderful sugar sand beach within a mile of the campgnd. also gulf shores and orange beach is within 10 min driving time. however it cost $2.50 to park near the beach at the park and $5.00 to park in town just to walk the beach. all that said, the campgnd usually has a wait list. not worth a long drive.

We went last year in September and throughly enjoyed our stay at the State Park. The campsite was exactly what we liked, spacious, clean and right on the water. We liked the convenience of being close to the beach, shopping and restaurants. We are planning on returning again this year in September. My husband plays golf and is planning on trying out the golf course there this year. It would be really nice to have the camp store open for those small necessities you need without going into town for them. Things like bread, ice and the such. We like to fish and being from out of state, found the fishing license extremely high for us. It would be nice if the park charged a small fee for those who are from out of state to fish in the park lakes witout having to buy a state license.

Would certainly like to have a WI-FI connexion at your place: this is almost the only thing missing with a public phone This place is clean and very well managed; highly recommended Raymond & Gisele from Quebec City

My husband and I love staying at the Gulf State Park Resort but I do believe it hasn't been rebuilt since Hurricane Katrina. However other hotels and motels are open.

Stayed last year and the park was very nice. They were happy to see us. I tried to call this year and no one answers the phone. You get a recording. The message tells you to call back later and hangs up on you. Is that service with a smile. How do you make reservations.
