I like Roundabout because of its potential for becoming one of the best golfing spots in the tri-state area. It may never complete directly with the Robert Trent Jones course in nearby Dothan, but it could be number 2 easily. The course has several picturesque holes that should be used for marketing the site. The back nine has several of the most challenging holes in the area, especially the 15th. Who ever made that hole only a par 5 must have been loopy. It plays to a long 5 almost every time; add the prevailing downhill wind into the tee box, I'll take 6 and be happy about it.
I played this last year and it was in need of a lot of help. So far the new management has delivered. It shows a lot of improvement and could easily be the best course around under $35.
Roundabout Plantation is a rural, edge of town course with lots of character and and interesting layout. Designed originally as a course with housing development around the course, the development hasn't materialized. The course is well managed and would benefit greatly by having the housing development completed. The course could also benefit by cleaning the ponds of algae. Lots of promise, this one. Just a jewel waiting to be polished. Plays to a solid 125 course rating. Not too hard, but with plenty of challenge for those who want it.
