It was ok

I found the place too small. The plant needed to be watered badley. I'm from Michigan and I was looking forward too this, but it turned out pretty bad.

Beautiful!!
By ,
I love the botanical center. My husband and I could not afford to go to hawaii or some exoctic dream place. So instead we were married at the beautiful botanical center in Des Moines. We were next to the waterfall on the bridge and it was amazing! Made for beautiful wedding photos also!! A must see!!

Excellent space
By ,
The presence of green and growing plants is especially nice during the winter months. The birds and atmosphere can certainly take your mind off of your everyday day. There are often special events that increase the escape value. The location along the river walking trail extends the experience outdoors during the warm months. Finding your way to the Botanical Center can be a challenge the first time. It can feel kind of small when an event is going on; you may not find a quiet corner.

A unique experience
By ,
The Botanical center is an interesting and stimulating environment that brings a collection of plants and animals from all around the world and puts them under one roof. The tour guides were extremely informative and were eager to educate me. The cafe and live music was also a plus.

Plants, yup they have those.
By ,
This is a nice place to go and spend an afternoon. Very interesting if you are into plant, fresh air, birds, butterflies, and more... Especially during the winter, when you are dying to see something green. Go there, it is good, cheap, and a nice distraction.

I thought that the flowers and other plants were cool but the birds stole the show with their beautiful colors.

Fun, Pretty, Relaxing, and cheap too!
By ,
Great place to go when you are feeling stressed out or angry. Large variety of plants, including a Bonsai collection. Some plantings are changed seasonally. Kids love watching the goldfish, turtles, and canaries. Waterfall, stream and pond all indoors. Outdoors are more gardens, including an herb garden. You can take a nice walk outside and continue along the river if desired. Neat rainbow sculpture in front of the dome, too. New (2004) cafe is pretty good.
