Scottish Rite Cathedral, Indianapolis

As part of a Scottish Rite degree team in another area I had the oppurtunity to do work at the Indianapolis Scottish Rite Cathedral. What an awesome experiance. I grew up there and my Dad was in the Scotttish Rite so I had seen it as a young boy, but didn't appreciate it. When I entered it for Junior Prom I completly forgot about my date I couldn't believe what I was seeing. With the knowledge I now have I have a better uderstanding, This is one of the greatest structers in this country. Your eyes will not concieve what you will see. A must see. Go to Indy!

Tours are offered free of charge on the 3rd Saturday of every month. Make time and go see this magnificent building but be prepared to look like a kid seeing skyscrapers for the first time. You will walk through this building in awe. Everything from floor to ceiling is amazing. Lots of carved wood and stone and the stained glass is remarkable. You will never see a theater as ornate as the one at the Scottish Rite.

I remember going here as a child. I remember it was huge like a castle. I remember when you walked in the doors it was soooo grand and fancy. It looked like a castle too inside. We were attending a dinner, I think it was a father daughter dinner in the great banquet hall. I remember how the floors squished under my feet. Dad said that's because it is a dancing floor. Very nice place would highly recommend sightseers to stop by and take a look.
