Funny...
By Jack of all trades, 05/30/09
How this place stays open i'll never know. best part is the live horse racing....as for a casino...uhhhh? Its not. IF your pondering whether to go to Deleware Park or Atlantic City....do yourself a favor and choose AC. AC has casinos, Deleware Park is a donation of your money. They advertise nice on TV...and thats about all that is nice. If AC is simply to far, I guess its not out of the question to have somewhat of a good time here.

Still like Delaware Park after 11 years of play
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/15/09
Well, there's no denying that you don't win there like you used to. I remember a time a few years ago when I would hit sometimes 2 or 3 jackpots of $1,500-$7,000 or more playing 1 dollar and 5 dollar machines during a single day's visit. Now, my wife and I have sort of accepted that we are just going there for the fun 1 and 5 cent bonus games since the other machines I used to hit big on have been removed. It's still a nice place and there are some cocktail servers that recognize us and we get excellent service from them. Occasionally, I will still play dollar sizzlin' 7s or some others, and just last weekend I hit (quite by huge, huge surprise) $4,000.00 on a dollar machine using Delaware Parks "Slot Dollars," but mostly, I play along with my wife and we just have fun getting those stupid bonus games that sometimes turn out to be worth a few hundred dollars. That's a good day at Delaware Park anymore. I still cruise throught he high limit area and on occasion, I will see a winner for a few thousand dollars. It's not paying the same big jackpots of yesteryear, but it's still fun if you just want to hang out and go for the silly bonus games on the nickle and penny slots. Have fun. Relax. And know that if you want a better chance at bigger jackpots, you're gonna have to go to Atlantic City. (At least if you don't win, you still get to drink for "free." : ) Happy 2009 and Good Luck!!!

You must be desperate!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/07
First of all, the place could use a good cleaning. From the restrooms to the employees, the place is dirty. If you want food forget it. The "quick" stop cafe upstairs is filled with dirty looking employees who are less than courteous. The counters and tables are dirty, as the employees look on while touching their face, hair, and "adjust" themselves while preparing your food. Yes, I've seen it. If you want to cash in one of your cashless tickets, good luck. They are not clearly marked and often wait in line or find they are not working. Need a courtesy drink? Good Luck...when the waitresses do come with your 3/4 filled with ice glass of whatever, don't expect them to be back around any time soon. (Although they were nice) We gave it three separate stops, and they disappointed every time. We won't be back!

Best Attraction in this town...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/03/07
Pros: For someone who has nothing to do while visiting this town the Park/Slot is the place to go. I was there for the day...and did a research of things to do in New Castle ... from the list I accumulated the park/slot was the highlight of the day. I really enjoyed the racetrack and was able see one horse race...after heading for the slot machines. Cons: While feeding the slots I think the drinks should be free...If you can find a server.

LOL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/07
Firstly, I asked 7 (!) employees (not bathroom attendant types either) about how the odds / payouts worked on the blackjack, three card poker, and let it ride games and nobody knew or knew who to ask. Secondly, I live in the area and I know many people who go here... The payouts are not very good at all from my sampling of about 35 people. The atmosphere is a complete joke. I cannot believe people travel here from any distance at all. It boggles my mind. If you have ever been to Vegas or even Atlantic City for that matter you will find it extremely dissapointing here. Service was extremely slow and not very friendly. I waited at least 40 - 60 minutes for the drink waitress to come by on a vast majority of my vists. I still tipped them and asked that they come back quicker if possible. They normally said they would do what they could... Nothing different happened with the exception of one time out of 15. These are drinks you have to PAY for by the way. Crowd type is mostly locals, older poeple, dress is about 80% extremely casual. I have never seen a young contigent there in any significant numbers at all. The energy is low and there are not a lot of "Yays" and screams of happiness happening. For slot play there is some value in that the re are lower limit machines however the payout in the long run is much worse on those. Seat / table availability has typically been good. I have never seen it so packed that you cannot get a seat at a slot machine. On very rare occasions the table game simulators are full but they don't stay that way for long as players get wiped out and have to leave. The above information has been gathered over a period of about 20 visists over the last 3 months. The visits were during the day, at night, over weekends and even holidays. Keep in mind that once you are at Delaware Park you can spend an extra hour and a half or less and get to Atlantic City.

Delaware Park

Fun if you like slots. Avoid the nickel machines, they will take all your money. Drinks were a little expensive, but experience was fun overall.
