La Plata Canyon Trip

Last year my wife's brothers from Texas visited us here in Durango. We treated them to the LaPlata Canyon trip and we all enjoyed it immensely. Our guide was an older gentlemen and very well versed in everything from local history to botany, minerals and wildlife. We took lots of photos, learned a few things and had a great experience.
This year relatives from my side of the family came to Durango and we decided to repeat the experience for their benefit as well as our own. Our guide wasn't local and claimed he was a professional tour driver from Arizona. The words that escaped his lips were way out in left field. Rather than admit he didn't know something, he would come up with a ridiculous story totally off base. Being from Colorado and knowing a little about the area, I found this disturbing. Not only were his stories wrong, but it was quite obvious that he wasn't accustom to driving a four wheel drive vehicle and his ignorance showed. Looking on the bright side, his outfit was quite amusing.
I will give Outlaw the benefit of the doubt and assume that their other drivers are better versed, However, I don't believe we will repeat the experience again. If you should happen to see a cowboy that looks like he's been put away wet, go the other way.
