State Street Ballet, Sonoma

During my last visit to Santa Barbara, I went to State Street Ballet's performance of "Carmen". Expecting a student-type performance, I was amazed at the professionalism of the company. As it turns out, it is the only fully professional ballet company between San Jose and San Diego. Their performers come from all over the world, and their touring schedule includes the western, eastern, and midwestern United States, as well as Mainland China and Taiwan. Costumes, lighting, sets, and especially the dancers were first rate and compare favorably to any professional ballet company that I have seen. Bravo to Santa Barbara for supporting this great asset!
