In addition to a three and a half hour cruise on the Chena and Tanana Rivers on the authentic sternwheeler Riverboat Discovery, you can \"see a bush plane taking off from a \"bush\"-style runway, visit the home and kennels of the late four-time Iditarod winner Susan Butcher, gain insight into the ancient Athabascan Indian culture,\" enjoy a personalized tour of the Chena Indian Village via Alaskan Native guides who have worked and lived in Alaska and more.
The worlds biggest tourist trap. This trip was horrible right off the bat as we were stuffed into a gift shop (to spend more money) with a thousand other people and then forced to wait in line to get on the even more cramped boat. The crew told us we would have a great time and were encouraged to eat some free donuts and coffee. Donuts tasted like cardboard and coffee was cold. Boat was perfect breeding grounds for meningitis as we were stuffed into every seat. I felt like I was traveling on the Middle Passage. Worst traveling experience of my life.
it was a great time the boat was great (free donuts and coffee), got to see the sled dogs train, saw a bush plane and got a great educational experience by a beautiful eskamo girl what can be better?

I had half a day while in Fairbanks and this tour was recommended when booking travel and hotel through the railroad. Riverboat was very nice with plenty of outside and inside viewing space.
Tour was a great sampling of all things Alaskan from bush pilots, dog sleds to native Heritage exihibits. Great way to spend half a day in Fairbanks.
First let me state, that I have been living in Alaska for 4 years and never thought there was anything like this in Alaska.
Great for all ages. My wife and I enjoyed this riverboat tour. The entire trip took about 3.5 hours. You start by watching an awesome take off and landing of a sea plane. Then you see homes that were built many years ago and get a chance to admire newer homes. The native village was awsome, very informative.
Overall I would recommend this to everyone who visits Fairbanks.
It was more then we could have expected, this was all part of a package deal for us. We were entertained from the time we went aboard until we left the boat. Every aspect of this cruise was very enjoyable, beautiful scenery, great narriation, smooth ride, enjoyed the musher exhibit, Indian village, enjoyed the salmon and crackers, the boat was clean as possible, enjoyed the air show, great deals within the shop to purchase.
Yes, we would do this again.

As a teacher, I like the information I can take back to my classroom. I was able to take lots of great pictures on a variety of subjects.
The pace was comfortable and relaxing. I liked that whatever I missed when sailing in one direction, could be seen on the way back. The indoor and outdoor seating helped to make everyone comfortable.
The television monitors helped everyone stay well informed.
Definitely the highlight of our trip to Fairbanks, you can see the pristine conditions that most can only dream of. Had the pleasure of Susan Butcher (Iditerod) come to the shore and show us some of her dogs. Surprised to see that they are hybreds, and not Malumutes like we expected. They were in Summer coat of course, but very lean indead. The riverboat ride is fantastic.
