I have taken the Edelweiss Cruise several times. Each time I was very pleased. The staff was nice and friendly, atmosphere was beautiful, a nice variety of music, the temperature was pleasant, and you had a choice to go out on the deck or stay in the dining room. I do however wish that there was a better variety of alcohol drinks such as hurricanes, and other mixed drinks. I took along a cousin during Bastille Days in 2006 and she really enjoyed herself. She recommended the cruise to other people and now she is talking about taking the cruise this year. The pizza was good but, on the taco crusie the tacos were cold when it came time to eat. Secondly, on the taco cruise regular taco sauce in the bottle she also be offered for those who do not prefer tobasco sauce.
The Edelweiss dining cruise leaves from old world
Milwaukee and cruises downriver to Lake Michigan.
Passengers enjoy casual fine dining while vistas
of the modern Milwaukee skyline and Lake Michigan
slowly pass on either side in a panoramic harmony
of nature and civilization. The cruise is relaxing, inspiring and worthwile to experience at least once.
Our cruise experience was wonderful. The food and service were outstanding. The cruise was fun. We'd do it again and recommend it highly to anyone. The Milwaukee city lights at night are lovely. It was a romantic way to do dinner.
Since the Edelweiss has been under new ownership, the service and quality of food has improved drastically. There are more options and variety when it comes to dinner menus and also different types of cruises as well. I have been on the margarita cruise, which is definitely worth $20, the dinner cruise and also the sightseeing cruise. There is no where else in Milwaukee that you can see the all of downtown Milwaukee and the lakefront. I highly recommend this cruise to anyone who is interested.
The dinner cruises are very elegant and the margarita cruises are more laid back and casual. I've been on both types of cruises and then read people's negative reviews about the margarita cruise. People have complained about not having a seat, but it's no different than going to a bar and standing if all of the bar stools are taken. The tacos were fine, nothing spectacular, but the whole package was $20. I think that unlimited tacos and margaritas plus an hour and a half boat ride is definitely worth the money.
If people are looking for a wonderful place for dinner to spend with someone special, then the dinner cruise is the way to go. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxing and romantic. The price is very relative to what is being served and the service that is given. I didn't have any complaints about the dinner at all.
I would recommend this cruise to anyone.
Our company when I worked in Data Processing of Milwaukee many years ago, took us as a company celebration of success on this little cruise venture round the lake of the city front. It lasted approx 1 hour, course bookings vary, but it was nice and relaxing.
I recently went on the Edelweiss for a dinner cruise, and I have to say I was impressed! Not only was the food great and the staff friendly and attentive, but the view from the water was amazing. The atmosphere makes this cruise more than worth it! Can't wait to go on it again.
A few friends and I went on a dinner cruise last week... and must say the meal and dinner was much better than in recent years. Recently the cruise venture changed hands, and is no longer being run by the Weisgerber's/ Third Street Pier, and is currently privately owned (apparently by one of the captains and a business partner), and catered by Mader's restaraunt.
I had attended a dinner cruise a few years ago, and although I enjoyed the atmosphere and service, I vowed never to return due to the quality of the meal itself. Reluctantly I agreed to return with my friends, because of the new catering/ ownership, and I am SO GLAD THAT I DID!!!
I highly recommend this venture under the new ownership to any visitors of Milwaukee or residents that would like to see the city from a different perspective!!
I paid for 9 tickets to show my family from England some Milwaukee sights. The food was awful, the brats were white just a little brown stripe where they were waved over a grill I could never recommend you to anyone else as several friends were asking and I had to be honest. We were kept waiting past boarding time in a cold cold wind . Very disappointing as we had frieds who did like it but when we described our trip said theirs was definately better as the brats were browned properly.
