Must do!
By Beth, 01/04/08
If you're in Milwaukee, chceck out the Public Skate at the Pettit. HUGE rink, so even if it's crowded, there's plenty of space to skate. Skaters of all levels, so even if you haven't been skating in awhile....you'll fit right in! Had a blast and am sure to return.

The best place to ice skake...
By MonicaH, 05/27/06
WOW! This rink is where I've been going my whole life. It's always worth the time and money spent and extremely fun. I recommend you to have a ice skating party -- just the activity, not actually buying a party pacage; I heard they're expensive -- for a 10 or so year old girl -- they're remember it the rest of their lives!

Cool, exciting fun!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/05
The center is actually two full-size hockey rinks end to end surrounded by a huge speed-skating oval. Now I know why this is an olympic training facility! The public skate was on the oval, and offered lots of room. The radio was playing and there were all sorts of people skating: families, friends, speedskaters. There was also a ring around the ice for joggers. There was also a pro-ice shop where you can buy brand name top-of-the-line hockey, speed, and figure skating gear. The refreshment stand below the ice in the prep area had a variety of things to choose from. The skates we rented were sharp and well kept. There are ample locker facilities and benches everywhere in case you need to sit down.

Petit

The Pettit is an amazing and world class facility with neighborhood prices. Open skating is popular yet not too crowded.

Petit National Ice Center--Yeah!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/04
This may seem strange, coming from a man who lives in DC, but I grew up in Wisconsin. I went to the Center at the end of May of this year (2004) with a friend who goes back more than 40 years. I skated as a kid, and did so even in grad school. But that was 20+ years ago.

My skating abilities had diminished to almost nothing, but people at the Center were ready to help out. It was great to see young people working on their hockey skills, and figure skills. It was very nice to see that the people who knew how to skate were so nice to me. Adults, kids, they made me feel encouraged. Sometimes they said something, but more often, it was just a friendly, encouraging look.

I broke my arm later that day, but once it's healed, I plan to take some skating lessons out here and be able to join my friend as a real skater the next time I'm in Milwaukee.
