Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion (The)
More than a century old, the mansion still stands as a testament to the labor and toil of all the workers who built it. Opened to the public in 1978, the place is being restored to match it's original splendor. One of the finest residences in the city, no cost or innovation would be spared in its design. The whole mansion was wired for electricity and plumbed for nine full bathrooms when it was built in 1892. It was installed with a state-of-the-art heating system by the company now known as Johnson Controls which could regulate the heat in the mansion with 16 thermostats and custom-built furniture for the majority of its rooms. Now a major tourist attraction, the mansion can also be rented for weddings, business conferences and other events.

The Mansion touched my heart

My friend of 58 yrs and I toured the mansion with our guide Don. He was wonderful answered all the questions I asked with superb knowledge. I was so moved at the beauty and the feeling I got by being able to share in this home that I wept. We WIll be back to take the extended tour. I wish they would make a mini series of the life of the Captain and his family. Nothing built today can even come close to the wonder of this mansion..The love he felt for his family is reflected in the beauty of the home he built for them..Thank you for opening the look into the past all all its glory
It was very well keep up. I would go back. If you don't go you won't enjoy your trip. It was so intresting. The people are so kind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I made a Milwaukee trip for my wife's birthday. She just loved this house. She especially liked the fact that most of the things that were used more than 100 years ago well-maintained in every rooms of the house. We felt like we were just time-machining to that era lively. The tour guide (an old lady at the front desk) was also very enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgable. The must see in Milwaukee: Pabst Mansion, Art museum and Miller brewery.
The mansion is beautiful. The tour guide was very knowledgable and entertaining. She answered any and all questions. I was even allowed to play the $100,000 piano. It's a wonderful piece of history. It has 2 floors fully open and more to be redone. A great tour.
My husband and I were married in the Pabst Mansion two years ago. We adore this nostalgic piece of Milwaukee history. In fact, we were not even from Milwaukee, but came all the way from Chicago to have an out-of-town wedding. We simply took one step into this breath-taking home and fell in-love with it. Not to mention the staff is delightful. Such great times in Milwaukee brought us here permanantly as of December.
This place was so amazing, though still a work in progress. A lot of it still isn't open to the public but its story and the way they are restoring it is so cool. Taking old pictures of the home, they are trying to find the original items in the house to preserve it to the exact state it was in before it was bought by the church and then when it was completely cleared out to be demolished. When the wrecker was in the front yard, ready to demolish, they finally were able to gain enough money through loans from every bank in Milwaukee and saved the mansion, preserving splendor and turn of the century wonder.
