NEW Zoo, Green Bay

the lions area is more than 15by15, several girrafes (spelling?) there are only 2. the zoo's staff know exactly what there doing and know how to take care of the animals and give them a relaxing and comptable area for them to enjoy. And to the person in milwaukee, why would you drive up here for our zoo when milwaukee has it's own zoo? green bay is like a 10th of the size of milwaukee, so you should assume the zoo here will be smaller. There is no gardner snake area at the zoo moron, you can see them anywhere in the wild around here.

I live in Green Bay and go to this zoo several times a year. I have also lived in NY and Chicago and have been to several LARGE zoos. To those of you who claim this zoo is a joke, you obviously do not appreciate true beauty! This zoo is amazing for the price!! Granted it is not large and chaotic, but that is not what makes a zoo great! The animals are NOT kept in small cages like the previous person claims, I don't know what zoo THEY were at, but the people at the N.E.W. Zoo take amazing care of their animals and provide them with a beautiful, natural environment that is enjoyable for everyone!! KUDOS TO EVERYONE THERE!!!

My family and I drove up from Milwaukee and were extremely disappointed. The zoo is pitiful. I mean a racoon exhibit? A gardner snake exhibit?...Seriously?? Total waste of a drive out there.

First of all, I would like to comment on what another person posted about the lions being in a 15x15 cage~ When we were there this same time last year, the lions were in a huge, open area~ very content laying around on rocks. I had 3 children then and one on the way and we found the zoo not only enjoyable, but very affordable also. We were so pleased in fact that we are on our way back this weekend!

likes: -small enough for the young and the elderly to walk through and enjoy --great value for the money-my elderly mother loves to go as she can afford it on her social security bugdet --having giraffes in Green Bay --the playground across the road is fabulous, combined with the picnic areas this is a great place for large families to meet/gather --the monkeys, otters and prairie dags are always entertaining --the flowers --the way they get the kids involved in the summer with petting zoos and little exhibits --the staff always seem to enjoy what they do and enjoy sharing their knowledge of the animals --LOVE the fact that it is open all year round now. We went several times this winter and had a ball. --the Zoopass, great value and a way for families to afford getting out of the house dislikes: --quite crowded and noisy in summer --the exhibits should be better labeled (the signs are sometimes missing altogether or do not have any information re: the animal)

I don't know what zoos the other people who have written reviews have been too, my guess is not that many. The cages were all very small, it was very saddening to see lions caged in a 15X15 cage. The zoo was small to begin with, but I have been in smaller zoos, that had made the room for the animals. They are planning on a larger caged area for the giraffes, now they are stuck in a small metal building not fit to size several dogs in, let alone several giraffes. The price was very cheap, but the family left feeling upset, so it was not worth it.

I've lived here in Appleton for 11 years now (moved from Chicago) and make the trip to Green Bay for the zoo at least 4 times a year The animals are well taken care of, entertaining and the zoo is always clean. It's great to see them in some-what of a natural habitat and love seeing them at the change of seasons
