Jefferson Vineyards, Charlottesville

We visited Jefferson Vineyards over the Memorial Day weekend. Overall, it was a good experience. The wines were pleasantly surprising in quality. The $1 tasting fee allows you to taste 13 wines, with most being of worth a quick swill. We did not tour the vineyards and it seemed that tours were organized in a haphazard but friendly way, with a gentlemen behind the counter simply asking who's interested. This is also a good vineyard to visit near lunch time as it is close to the Brix marketplace and a mock Colonial tavern which serves an excellent fried chicken buffet. However, the true gem of the Monticello Wine Trail is Veritas Vineyards.
