When in Hilton Head, it is an absolute must that you take to the adjacent seas and wetlands aboard some kind of watercraft. Palmetto Bay Water Sports has scads from which to choose, from two-person wave runners and three-person fun boats to seven-person runabouts and 14-person pontoon boats. If you prefer the solo (and less ecologically impactful) route, they even rent kayaks. See website for tide tables, rates and more.
My boys went out on the jet-skis and had lots of fun. As a mom, I liked that they sent a guide out with the group. They did something called a "creek run" and the boys got to go really fast which they enjoyed. In fact, they liked it so much we ended up coming back later in the week and renting the jet-skis again. My oldest daughter has two little ones, so we did the Dophin Seafari with them. They actually let the little ones hold the jelly balls (not poisonous!) and we saw a bunch of dolphins! Excellent trip!
The equipment is substandard and the charge was way above average! The owner is rude and actually sent my son on a broken jet ski, my jet ski had duck tape holding the center console together and my drivers license came out. I would not recommend this company, my brother rented a 19 open bow runabout boat all the gages were broken there was not a "functioning" depth finder no running lights and the upholstery ripped the cost was $230 for 1.5 hours. Rip off!!! save your money.
