Hilton Head Brewing Company
Hilton Head's only working microbrewery, this brew pub is also the first brewhouse and restaurant in South Carolina. An array of great appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, prime rib, steaks, chicken, ribs, and seafood is on the menu, all complemented by handcrafted homebrews. They are open daily for lunch and dinner.
Love it! My husband and I can actually have a conversation there because the kids had so much fun with the games, ducks, turtles and corn hole. Service was great. Love the food, but I'm really there for the beer, the IPA is out of this world. Don't miss this place - it's awesome!
We had fond memories of HHBC from previous trips to Hilton Head. This was our first trip back in 5 years, and while I recall the brewery used to be packed every visit, we were looking forward to sampling their beers and having a nice meal.
Should have known something was amiss when we saw no advertising for HHBC in the local activity guides. We went anyway (on a Friday night), and were one of three groups of customers in the entire place.
The service was ok, but the beer was warm and fairly flat, and my seafood dinner consisted of one very small piece of fish.
I asked the hostess what happened here... referencing our previous experiences versus now, including the large crouds they used to draw. She said the economy was off, and it was their business. Funny though.... everywhere else we ate in HH was packed!
Was there last Friday night. Pond is dried up. At 5:30 we were only people there, so played it safe and had a burger, which appeared to be frozen patty type. Asked to sample a 2 beers to decided what I wanted, it was served in plastic cup, probably 1 oz. Pick on and bought a Pint. When I got the bill the charged me $.50 per sample. I could not believe it. I have been to several brew pubs and have sometimes sampled 4 to 5 beers before making my selection and have never been charged for them, plus the come in nice glass sample size cups.
This place is under new management and you can tell. The menu is very large and the food is very good. The service is friendly and knowledgable. We had a bad experience in the past and we were reluctant to go back but when we heard it was redone and it was under new management we decided to go and take a chance. We are glad we did.... :)
We make a yearly trip to HHI every Memorial Day. We always have one meal at HH Brewing Co. This year our experience was horrible.
They only had one waitress! I ordered a chicken finger salad and the lettuce looked as if it was 10 days old. Left most in the bowl. Server never came back after serving meal to check or bring drinks.
We will never go back!!
We have been visiting this place for the past 10 years. There is not too much special about it but we liked the different types of food they offered. It is a very relaxed environment.
We recently visited the HHB and on the way to my table, my wife slipped on the floor and badly bruised her hip. She dropped her drink and our appetizer and nobody came over to help her up.
As I rounded the corner, I saw her and went over to pick her up. The host sat us and said the manager would come over to check on us. About 3 minutes later, a waitress fell in the same spot and badly hurt her wrist.
My wife asked the waitress for aspirin since her elbow and hip were hurting the waitress said that the manager would bring it over. Well, 15 minutes later, nobody showed up. I asked the bus boy and he came back with the aspirin.
Towards the end of our dinner, I asked the waitress to find the manager and have him come over. Around 10 minutes later, I got up and went to bar and found the waitress. I asked her where the manager was and she said he told her to take 10% off the ticket. I was furious that the manager did not have the decency to come over and ask how she was.
Needless to say, I went and found the manager and gave him a piece of my mind. He had nothing to say. It goes to show that good service can either make or break a restaurant.
