Yuck
I just wanted to express my extreme disappointment in our dining experience on Saturday night at Bonterra.
It started with our server. He was cold, non-personable and borderline abrasive - certainly not the type of service one would expect from your caliber of restaurant.
Things were looking up after the wonderful fried lobster appetizer. But then both my wife an I found the main courses to be uninspired and very average. While my lamb chops were decent, the greens that came with it were rather bitter, and generally not a good compliment. Her scallops (that our server recommended) were OK, but lacked anything defining.
We had come to your establishment that evening with high expectations. You have a wonderful reputation as one of the finest restaurants in our city. But the bad service, average food, and a $150 bill left much to be desired.
To top it all off, as it was our first anniversary, my parents had called earlier in the week to arrange for a gift certificate for us to use. It was waiting at the hostess stand when we arrived. Yet never once did any of your staff wish us a Happy Anniversary. Not a big deal, but it's these little touches that you expect from a great restaurant.
Little touches that Bonterra definitely lacks.
