This restaurant gets very high marks for its design and ambience, and the service was pretty good. Overall, the food was average to above average, although some of it had to be sent back to be warmed up.
The salads and desserts weren't anything special, and the best bets for entrees were the skirt steak and the pasta dishes. Menu prices weren't outrageous; for the money, though, I think we'd choose someplace else.
Ok, I went to SpaBar, which is connected.
The good: Nice atmosphere, friendly service, happy hour.
The bad: the food and the wait time. The pizza is thin and bland and the lunch time wait was 30 minutes and we had to ask for bread (which was yummy) and water. The restaurant was not too crowded. I would not go here again for lunch. Also the prices are high and not really worth it. I normally love the Paragary joints.
I have eaten there and at Paragarys consistantly and food always wonderful. However Mothers Day was very forgettable, out of many things and place seemed like hodge podge was the call of the day.I was showing the place off to friends and was dissapointed at the whohe feel. Will come back but wow you should have stayed closed.
yukkiee food taste and quality. The service was rude. Managers nowhere to be found. Will never ever go there and tell everyone I know about my horrible experience. Judging from some of the other posts and the fact that someone actually complained to their General manager (read the other posts below), Spataro does not care about customer service anyway.
Last night my husband and I dined at Spataro. Even though we had no reservations, the hostess greeted us right away with a smile and were seated within minutes. (It was, I guess, a slow Saturday night.) Once seated, the service was wonderful. Our server, who came to our table in a timely fashion, was very pleasant and welcoming. She made some food choice recommendations and let us eat at our own pace. Our food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere was comfortable. All in all it was a wonderful experience.
I'd give it a zero if I could. We went there for dinner before a show w/ reservations at 6:00. Show was at 8:00. Bottom line, we left there at 7;45 p.m. having not EVER been served our food. No one came to our table to explain until we hunted down the waiter. Worst part was both Spataro and Paragaray were on premises that night. No management came to explain what was going on. Blame was passed by the waiter. We complained via e-mail to Spatro, Paragaray and his wife. No sorrys, no response, nothing .Will never eat at a Paragary owned restuarnat again!
Spataro has a new manager now that is dedicated to service and training. We were there last week and even though the restaurant was busy our server was attentive and friendly and suggested menu items that we may not have tried (the antipasto platter was great!) I suggest that you give them another try.
If you like the Yuppie/snobby place, this would be perfect for you. If you like presentation over substance and taste, this would be perfect for you. The following is an email that I sent to their General Manager and their website MORE THAN A MONTH AGO, and I have not heard back ONE response. This goes to show you how much they care about their customers and that customer service is NOT a top priority for them. Terible management.
Dear Ms. Johnson: (this is addressed to their General Manager.)
I happened to dine at your Spataro restaurant yesterday, August 22nd for lunch. I had a terrible experience that I wish to share with you. This was my very first time visiting your establishment and I was very disappointed at the service and the food. First, we arrived @ 12:10. WE ordered our food @ 12:20 and did not get our food until 12:50. This is a ridiculous 30 minute wait and the only reason whey we got served is because we complained.
Secondly, when I got my megherita pizza, the bottom crust was burnt. This is unacceptable for your establishment. You need to hire chefs that know how to cook and not serve burnt food. I did not complain about this issue because I only have 1hr lunch and I did not want to wait another 30 minutes to get a replacement.
My advice for anyone is not to go to Spataros for they have terrible service and the pizza is burnt. If you choose to go to Spataros, please make sure that you allow AT LEAST 2 hours from your lunch hour because they take a long long time. Thank you for listening.
I am not sure why this place is getting such great reviews. The atmosphere is nice although a bit too trendy. The bar is large and they make their own great limoncello. I thought the service was fine and the food presentation nice but all four people at our table felt the food was rather tasteless. One friend ordered a dish with pancetta and there were literally 2 tiny pieces of pancetta in the dish. The olive appetizers were the best flavor we had all night. I will not go back.
