Big City BBQ & Grill, Mesa

I went there tonight and the place is empty and for sale.

I come here whenever my husband doesn't feel like smokin brisket himself. My husband won't let me get BBQ from anywhere else. It's the closest thing to Home Cook BBQ you can get. The brisket is awesome, the ribs are good, and I can honestly say I have yet to have a mediocre meal here. As for the ambiance; it's comfortable. It's not dingy or anything like that. From what I can tell it's a very clean place & becomes very busy (quickly). Since it does become so busy there is somewhat of a wait, but it's well worth it once you dig your teeth into your meal.

I have only been there once and I went to the Alma School location. The atomosphere was nice and the service was great. The food was good, I have personally had better BBQ but it was worth the trip. I would like to go back and try it again.

Atmosphere, food, service all in all in was a good place to eat. I would recommend it to someone who is new in town and looking to go somewhere casual and eat a good meal.

They received a Golden Plate award in this month's Food & Life magazine.

Phoenix Magazine gave them a "Best of the Valley" award after they were open only a month, and now they are listed in their "Top 25 New Restaurants." This barbecue place is "smokin!"

I know this is a barbecue place, but I would like to nominate it for the best hamburger in the state. Try their Big City Burger, with 10 ounces of beef in hand-pressed patty, grilled onions, two kinds of cheese, bacon (not just any bacon, but the thick stuff smoked in their smokers), lettuce, tomato, etc. Also order some of their fries, and ask for some "magic dust" on the fries.
