On New Years Eve 2005, five of us went to eat dinner at the Tuscan Grill. Upon making reservations we were not informed of the $50 per person charge for dinner that night. After reviewing the choices available to us we figured it was worth the price for the meal. The first course that my wife and I ordered was Lobster Bisque. It was burnt and tasted terrible. We sent it back and the host apologized and said they new it was burnt as the cook earlier turned his back for 5 minutes and burnt it. Why would they even serve it if they new this? The second course was alright, I had crab cakes that tasted as good as the one's I get at Cortland seafood other than the chunks of carrots which dominated the flavor of the dish. The Main Course however was extremely disappointing 4 out of 5 of us ordered the filet and lobster. All of us ended up getting meat that was not cooked the way we ordered it. Mine was way overcooked and I sent it back. Everyone else decided to eat theirs, as they did not want to wait. After everyone was done eating I received my meal and the filet was purple in the middle, way undercooked. Again I sent it back and waited for them the get it right. After sending it back I expected the host to come out but he did not. When the filet came back it was finally cooked right. After the filet I took one bite of the lobster and discovered it was barely cooked and tasted raw in the middle. I sent me plate back with the lobster on it and then proceeded to the restroom where I vomited. I then came back out to our table, declined desert, which was included in the price and then went back to the restroom to vomit again. We asked to speak the host and he came out when I went outside to start our vehicle and get some fresh air and was no where to be found when I went back in. The other people at my table said the host defended the meal, even though I got sick from it, and was willing to take the drinks off of our bill (3 glasses of wine at $5 each) even though we were all paying separately. So I got the bill for $104 for my wifes meal and mine. I wrote a note on top of the check that said Thank you for making me sick. Word of mouth goes along way. And asked the waiter to give it to the host. He went into the kitchen and came back out a minute later with the check and the host never came out to speak with me. After going home as my night was ruined, I vomited again and then called the restaurant to speak to the host about my experience there. He said there was nothing wrong with my meal or anyone elses there that night and saw nothing wrong with charging $50 for a meal that made me sick. I told him that if he more concerned with profit over his customers satisfaction then I would share me story with everyone I knew and I would ask them to share it with others as well. The next day my wife went to work and shared our experience with a coworker that ate there that night as well. The coworker said that that had a similar experience that night as one of the members of there party got ill right after eating and 3 others felt nauseous after eating their meals. So much for the hosts statement that everyone elses meals were fine. I hop that my true story about my experience there helps others determine whether they wan to eat there.
Takes the top of your head off. Anything on the menu is awesome. Great value and excellent food. The staff is attentive as the food is good. I even spotted celebrity regional mountain climbers Greg H and sidekick Wayner J chowing down here. It was here that they were overheard saying: If I ever had to practice cannibalism, I might manage if there were enough tarragon around . That tells you a whole bunch. When climbing a mountain all day leaves you hankering for a gourmet meal, this is where you want to come. And that other poster who complained about his 2005 New Years Eve Dinner at the Tuscan Grill, he was mixing beer, wine and liquor before he even ate dinner, an looked quite inebriated.
Thie food is outstanding. There is a variety of foods to reach all different tastes. The ambiance is extrodinary. The atmosphere is very inviting, relaxing and romantic. The gardens in the window are an excellent touch. The peaceful music in the backround, the informative nad friendly staff and ownership make this a place that I visit frequently, living 45 minutes aways. It is worth the drive!
My husband and I went to the Tuscan Grill for dinner on a Saturday Night. As soon as we walked in the door we were amazed by the ambiance of the restaurant! Everything inside was beautiful. We each had some wine, a salad, an entree, and dessert! All were amazing We had been in NYC a few weeks prior and the meals we had there could not compare to the Tuscan Grill. Not to mention that our server never missed a step, we never had to ask for anythign we might need it was right there. I recommend the Tuscan Grill to anyone who appreciates good food and great service while feeling like you are actually in Tuscany!
From my first impression to my last impression everything was wonderful. I thought the service, food, and environment were exquisite. The staff was friendly and very helpful and the food was so delicious we talked about it even after we left. The prices were very reasonable and their new wine list is fantastic. I look forward to eating at The Tuscan Grill again.
On New Years night 2005 my wife and I and 4 other couples went to the Tuscan Grill for dinner. From the start i could tell that this was going to be a great way to begin our New Years. As we where seated we where first pleased to find out that the Tuscan Grill now had a wine list,as the last time we where there we had to bring our own wine. The New Years menu was amazing as we each had 4 choices of 4 courses to choose from ranging from soup too steak and lobster. As a rule we all tryed to order different things off the menu so we could all get a taste of everything the resturant had to offer. From the first glass of wine to the final cup of coffe the meal was for lack of a better word PERFECT! Each dish that came out was more perfectly prsented then the one before and the tastes where out of this world. Two of the couples where from New York city and one more still from Syracuse could not belive that such an amazing place was tucked inside our little city of Cortland. This was only the fourth time that i have been to the Tuscan Grill but i can promise that it will not be the last. For anyone thinking about the best way to spend a night out in or around Cortland i would say the perfect way to start it would be with dinner at the Tuscan Grill......You can be sure we will......
