Cafe Provence - Brandon
Warm and inviting, casual fine dining at Cafe Provence is a truly memorable experience. Located in the restored historic section of downtown Brandon, VermontChef Robert Barral, former Executive Chef of the New England Culinary Institute and The Four Seasons in Boston, crafts our seasonal menu to showcase not only his talents as a chef, but also highlight the best meats, cheeses, and vegetables that local farms have to offer.
What a gem we found in the mountains of VT! Outstanding sevice and the food was creative and as good as I have had anywhere. The brussel Sprout and sweet potato app. was perfect, the salmon with parsley sauce was amazing, served over polenta with THE BEST RATATOUILLE IN AMERICA(imho)on the side(They were kind enough on a second visit to sell me a Quart of it to take home!)
We were also stunned by the reasonable prices. This same food and wine would have cost 25-50% more in any urban area. The service was attentive and efficient.
Well worth the trip if you are anywhere in the area!
While on vacation, we had to visit Brandon, as it is my son's name. We had read about the town while surfing the web and decided it would be nice to have dinner there. This was one of the best meals I have ever had. From the bread, to the salad, entree and dessert, everything was absolutely perfect. You can tell that the menu is planned around seasonal ingredients as the flavors are outstanding. It was a bit pricey for our budget but was worth every penny. A truly memorable dining experience. If you are in the area it is worth the trip.
The best food I've ever had anywhere! It was obvious that great attention has been paid to everything from the extraordinary food, to the attentive service. Often food this good comes with a too formal setting...Cafe Provence does not make this mistake. It provides an atmosphere of relaxed comfort and simple beauty so you really enjoy the experience. Don't pass up the desserts here either; they are 5 star! Extensive selection of both food and prices so there is something for everyone.
I have read the WONDERFUL reviews, BUT I would have to disagree!
Arrived and was seated by hostess promptly. Server came and took drink order. Drinks were served. Food order was taken. After about 20 minutes the server came to the table and said the potato dish with this meal is not ready to be served and would be ready in 20 to 25 minutes and gave us other choices which were not what we wanted. Then someone from the kitchen called out it is OK the potatoes are almost ready. We sat and waited and waited while other people came in ordered, had the meal and and left before we got our meal. Not very impressive.
My friend was drinking water and by this time it had been refilled several times with only water and no ice and the water was warm as all the ice had melted, she finally had to get up and find someone as she could not get the servers attention.
This will not be my first choice as a fine dining experience.
I love the wonderful food, ambience, servers that are top notch. It is a delightful way to get together with friends or co-workers for a lovely meal. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone. You will not be dissapointed. Chef Robert has made Brandon a much better place to live, work and visit!
