DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I ate here in on 03/15/13. This is little more than a tourist trap that uses its location to give the illusion that you will be getting fresh gulf seafood. The seafood here is pre-packaged deep fried frozen product that is warmed up in an oven. And not even good product, at that. The severs are attentive and friendly, but thats where it ends. The meals are way overpriced, the food is of extremely poor quality, and the drinks taste funny (my sweet tea tasted like pepsi). The crab cake was soft, soggy, and flavorless......I asked for grilled shrimp, they brought me breaded, and the cocktail shrimp were unpeeled. The inside of the restaurant should have been a tip off.....stuffy, crowded, and really odd 80s style chairs on wheels. Without a doubt, the unknowing tourist along with the restaurants location keep this place in business. Anywhere else, they would have been out of business long ago. Save yourself the disappointment and find a real restaurant that serves real, fresh seafood.
The only reason we stopped here was because the kids were tired, hot and hungry after touring the Lexington and the wait at Pier 99 was too long. Suffer through the long wait next door TRUST ME. The waitress was nice and fairly attentive but that was the only thing going for this place. Food was poor, drinks tasted funny and the place was filthy. The floor was sticky and the sofa I had to sit on as part of our seating arrangement was disgusting. I had to cover it with napkins before I could sit on it and by the end of our meal grease (or something else) had soaked through the napkins. Oh and my daughter got trapped in the ladies bathroom.
Unfriendly and rude waitstaff. A business desk in the the dining room? Substandard food. I agree with the other reviewers. If it wasn't for the location and poor unknowing tourists, this place would go out of business.
In April 2012, a group of cub scouts and their parents tried to eat here prior to our Live Aboard weekend. About 20 of us sat outside for 15 min without being greeted or served. I approached the waiter about it and he said he was busy (only 2 other tables; 4 people at each) and would come take our drink orders in 5 min. I went inside to ask the person who appeared to be the manager (sitting behind the desk) if he could send someone outside to help the waiter because there were so many of us. He basically told me he didn t have more waitstaff and that we d just have to wait! I went back outside and told our group his response and we immediately left and went next door to Pier 99 - we received outstanding service there. My recommendation to anyone visiting the USS Lexington, walk a little further and wait a little longer and eat at Pier 99; it s much better service than Capri.
In June 2011 my husband and I came here for a quick dinner because Pier 99 was very packed. Well the service was great, friendly staff but I think they are over priced for the quality of food served. We honestly didn't care for it but we don't like to be rude so we ate it and paid our bill with no complaints. We for a po boy and it was a little dry and they told us they didn't serve BBQ sauce. The fries were good but that's about it. It's not the worst food ever just over priced.
Made the mistake of going there over our vacation. Believe me I wish I would have read these reviews 1st!!!! We saw the creepy man behind the desk who did nothing, maybe he should have been cleaning. Than my daughter attempted to get a cup and was yelled out by a very rude lady who than tried to tell me she was following health codes. I'm not sure what health codes those would be considering the lights and floor had dead bugs on them. Pretty gross. I had a hamburger which was good but my son ordered shrimp and you would think being that close to the water you could have quality shrimp...no such luck, they tasted like something they pulled out of their freezer. Also, our waitress seemed nice but seemed scrared of the creepy man and the very rude lady. The only reason they remain in business is because of their location. Next time I will for sure go elsewhere. You don't yell at someones child no matter what!!!!!!!! I will make sure I tell everyone I know going to the Corpus area not to eat there NO MATTER WHAT!!!
I keep reading Mark's comments defending the place serving hundreds of people a day. Excuse us for being duped into eating at a place that has real estate right next to a BIG tourist attraction. If you all were on ebay where customers could see your track record before buying, you all would be out of business by now.
I would have thought that by eating by the bay I could get fresh fish. Instead the place is nothing better than a deep fry kitchen serving frozen entrees not above Boat-n-Net quality. The menu is a 2-sided, half page, overpiced dollar menu where most 'entrees' are served in a basket.
To top it off, Capri's almost threatens people(with their food) to eat there in order to use their bathroom. This alone should have been enough warning for us not to sit and eat.
Please, please tell your friends and family about this place. It is not fair that they make money off the Lexington because of their location, or because you can't judge the food until it is served and by then they expect you to pay for it. Let me here your excuse Mark(probably the creepy old man sitting behind the desk watching everyone eat.)
This place should be passed by, unlike my family and I we decided to stop in. From the outside it looks like it would be a fun and different place to grab a light lunch. We step inside(the point from no return), we had trouble finding a table because most of them haven't been bussed. As we sat down we noticed a man sitting in open office on the other side of the room, that should have been our second hint. This man sat at his desk with the place dirty, if He's the owner he needs help on cleanliness, and motivation. Our waiter was young guy who was working his ass off, great server he should find another place to work he'll do well. We then received our menu, by the prices so high this place must be in financial trouble. We all ordered the crab cakes, which tasted like artificial crab, $5.99 is allot to pay for that garbage. So if you are feeling hungry, by pass this spot and go over to Pier 99 great food, service and worth it!
